I have fitted a decent looking high level brake light to my 1996 4-seater. It is fitted to the standard Morgan luggage rack and is a shiny chromium plated metal bodied LED light with a good appearance from all round. I think it looks rather better than the Morgan’Cyclops’ light, but that isn’t possible to fit to a 4-seater anyway. This arrangement would work with a lot of 2-seaters too. The wiring of the light was easy and plugs in with standard bullet connectors behind the spare wheel. The light came with a long enough black lead to do this. I got the light from Bikermart on the internet, type Highsider Interstate LED rear tail light and bracket, chrome version. I made a small stainless bracket to fit it to tapped holes in the front underside of the rack. For when I carry a suitcase on the luggage rack, I intend to have an alternative light that fits on the case – easy to arrange. I might use a plug and socket arrangement for this, yet to decide. My car has the standard Morgan rack and having a suitcase on it meant obstructing the rear vision through the back window when the hood was up. We travel to France with a case on a few times a year and we have the hood up for the journey. To get over this problem I have lowered the rack about 80-90mm. I did this by reversing the brackets that support the front of the rack – angling them down instead of up. I had new rear upright stays for the carrier made at Heart of England Morgans (John Worrall has probably still got the drawing I did) and I think the overall appearance is better than before. I have also made a satnav bracket that fits to the car with no modification at all and presents the satnav in the middle of the dash in front of the top upholstered roll. It is visible in one of the photos.

Smart job, Bassman! Lately I've been wondering if the 'Cyclops' unit could be modified to act as a hi-vis rear fog light- and still retain the original brake light. The standard fit fog light is very low down, being beneath the bumper. I suppose another bulb holder in the 'Cyclops' with a stop/tail LED is a possible. Gerry.

But when you put luggage on the rack............... I mounted mine beneath the rack on the last but one rung so it hangs down. So no problem with luggage then But I do like your light
