Being a classic design they don't really date in the way a modern car does.
Low production numbers means rarity and the fact that they can be rebuilt and maintained fairly easily also helps.
To better than original

Oh....are Morgans cars? I thought that they were a way of life! Part way of life, part addiction, not sure yet. But like a wife, really.

It is interesting re demand. There was a program a the box two days ago about the new freedoms regarding the release of pension money. One interviewee said he had always wanted a Morgan. That is all very well but looking at the adverisements in the back of Miscellany over the past year I was surprised how few cars there are for sale. This indicates to me that owners hang on to their cars.

Interesting Perhaps as pension pots have been hit recently then second hand prices will actually rise not decrease for two reasons Lack of second hand stock Second hand prices still cheaper than buying new It's my view that the new prices for the trad cars are too cheap - now The factory is supplying exclusively through the dealer network, I would put up new prices, splitting the extra profit between the factory and dealers so that everyone can fund a great service to customers I know this strategy flies in the face of logic if the order book is declining but with niche market and luxury items - higher prices can create greater demand

There has been a lack of secondhand cars available for over 2 years now. Miscellany 'Cars for sale' use to run into 2 pages and dealers had a full range of secondhand cars. Our local dealer has had difficulty in having a stock for sometime and what comes in sells quickly. The cars that seem to stick are the new models that have been taken by the dealers. Unless you want the colour/trim combination and can negotiate a discount, wouldn't you rather have the experience of ordering your own car? The days of 8 year waiting list have long gone.

Possibly, but how many on that list are really for sale? I never take free listings by private sellers that seriously. If you pay for an advertisment you are serious... Pistonheads have 91 trads for sale: about 2% of the UK Morgan population. Also, how many people buying a Morgan for the first time would buy privately from someone they have never met before? Most wil go to a dealer. Morgan dealers have 48 Plus 4s, from 1952 to 2014, including a rather tastey "Flat Rad" from 1952, same age as me!! Not a massive selection.

A dealer friend tells me that demand for new cars is well down and his greatest demand is for used cars in the £25k range.
Morgan or generally?
