Wonderful, but £200K plus for a modern continuation of a 1938 model, with a few changes. Hand build, crafted as it was.

Then we have an alternative, £50K for a well specified modern continuation of a 1950s model with a few changes. Also hand built and crafted as it was.
It is a Morgan Plus 4 and it is incredibly good value for money.

I do have a fender fetish, but the Alvis is getting a bit too Chitty Chitty Bang Bangish for me.

I have to agree with the shortcomings on the SS replica...after I sold my Porsche 356 I tried a number of options before I saw sense and ordered a new 4/4.

The SS was awful to drive , the steering was dreadful and the whole experience was disappointing for a 80,000 pound factory built car.
Very nice to look at but I have driven better home built kit cars.

The private owner kept it because he liked looking at it !!!!

I know what you mean.... The Alfa's from the 30's are impossibly beautiful. But, unfortunately, huge money. I've not had great success with vintage motors and prefer the 'turn key and go' that a Morgan has, whilst combining my affection for the Morgan/vintage shape.

I'd have that Jag that Mike Hughes had though.

I'd dearly love to own a real vintage car, but I can't be doing with all the hassle (I really don't have enough spare time).

My 4/4 ticks most of the boxes for me (albeit with far better performance than almost any real vintage car than you could mention).

Pandy, couldn't agree more. I played with vintage bikes for a while, but as you say they are "high maintenance". They are wonderful to own but every ride is an adventure and you never really know if you will get to where you intend. They are mostly dynamically terrible and slow...!

I love the vintage look and modern reliability/performance of the Morgan, just like Triumph's "New Bonneville" which I also loved.
