Has anyone installed an ITG air filter in their +4 T16? Merlin motorsport can't advise on the fitment, John Worrall isn't sure if it's the JC60/70 or not and Mogsport no longer trade ....... Any advice much appreciated.
When I had a T16 I fitted a K&N into the airbox. On the T16 the inlet is on the exhaust side so the standard box allows you to suck in cooler air, but check the hose isn't perished over the manifold. Mine failed.
I had an ITG on my 4/4. It added a lot of induction noise.
On my T16 I fitted a Librands exhaust but also a Librands manifold.
The manifold really frees up the engine, especially mid range torque.

If you decide to fit a foam filter in the standard air box as John V6 advises you might want to consider turning it inside out if the foam is in progressive layers (i.e. course to fine foam) as Morgan uses the air box in reverse to the standard Rover fitting. Mine is a Pipercross filter made for a Rover 800 series. I have replaced the fabric air hose with an insulated Ally tube to reduce the heat from the manifold.
Thanks all for the advice. One thing which is missing, be it K&N, Pipercross or ITG is the part number! I've checked with Pipercross, the nearest fitting, PX229 I think, is for the M16 and they wont confirm it's OK for the T16 although the airbox looks identical.
Brian, It was Brian at Techniques who advised me to fit the ITG. I had a standard enclosed filter before with a elephants trunk that picked up air (it says warm air in John Worrall's book) from the lower right side of the block. I've seen quite a few in use now but as others have said the T16 inlet is on the other side. Is it possible to run a cold air feed to the filter"
