I think it was Peter Morgan who once said "why do you need a radio when you have the music of the engine".
I may have paraphrased that a bit, but his comment was spot on.

Go for it. I can hear mine up to about 40 and it's useful in town and parked up. The hardest part will be do you have the wiring already fitted.
My 4/4 sport didn't.

I use a portable rechargeable fm radio/mp3 player used with quality sennhesier headphones in my 4/4 and system works well.

Useful to dampen the "accoustic values" of my straight through exhaust on long journeys...traveled from Weymouth to York yesterday with Radio 4 most of the way.....didn't see another Morgan on route.

There seems to be two classes of Morgan owners:

There are those that think of their Morgan as a very enjoyable fun car and are quite happy with having; stereo system, hood, sidescreens, comfort suspension, and, heaven forbid, even aircon, that all form part of the car and they enjoy it that way. That is not to say that they don't also enjoy the sound of a sports exhaust, and think of performance enhancements.

Then there are those that think of a Morgan as a sort of hair shirt, or a penitent's whip for self flagellation. The hood, if it is even on the car, is rigorously kept down no matter what the weather is, sidescreens are used under protest if the wife insists, suspension? Well I suppose modern shocks are ok.. maybe.
Radio? Music? Well my hearing is so effected by years of open exhausts and wind noise that I can't hear it anyway. A real Morgan driver doesn't need music.

I'm happy to say that I belong to the first group. I enjoy my car and I enjoy having a stereo radio system in it.

The 6 speaker fitment in the Plus 8 is really good: Tweeters on the dash, mid range speakers in the usual place and large eliptical speakers behind the seats. I don't know if there is an aux amplifier, but the volume levels possible, before distortion, are almsot anti-social.

Mind you the exhaust can be even louder...

I don't have a radio in my Plus 4 and the only reason I miss a radio is the absence of traffic information. I know that such information is sometimes of mixed quality/accuracy but, on balance, when sitting in a traffic jam I would prefer to have the opportunity to hear it. Is it possible to get a portable radio that has "TP" I wonder?

Many Garmin Satnavs have traffic updates.
Even My old Garmin 660 ( motorcycle model) has active traffic updates.
Job done.
As a side issue that Garmin can even have a large amount of MP3 "tunes" loaded so who needs a radio ?

Some interesting notions here. I am thinking of doing the same thing in my 1999 4/4 as my local car audio shop wanted £500 to fit a basic Alpine unit. Not having fitted a car radio from scratch before in a Morgan I would like to know if there are any pitfalls to look out for. The basic wiring seems easy enough. One concern is where to mount the speakers.
Any suggestions welcome?

Welcome Skimog .Good place for speakers if its only two, is in the side panels behind the doors. As close as possible to your ears.
