A man in front waving a red flag perhaps???

A friend was seriously contemplating one - but he doesn't commute in the car. The majority of his driving is long European cruises and so unless the route includes Supercharger stops it isn't going to work - especially in convoy with dinosaur drinkers.

I'd take a Tesla Discovery tomorrow if they built one.

SWMBO is now driving far more and so we are off to buy an old Passat 130 TDI tomorrow - which should help curb our fuel usage!

Allready underway.
For once the EU have acted sensibly: electric cars will have to make a continious and recognisable car/van like sound at all speeds up to 60kph when in urban areas.

I rather like the idea of a Tesla sounding like a steam traction engine.....

I have the S85. I test drove both several times and besides the extra £12,000 for the high powered inverter and the quicker 0-60 there isn't much difference. The 50 -80 acceleration is pretty much the same.

However, I will get a P85D in the future as the 4WD and 691Bhp IS more fun. However a new Morgan is in my immediate future :-)

I'm keeping my Ferrari and my Aero and Lancia Vignale for my V8 and classic fix!

However, I may end up next year with just the new P85D and new Morgan as it will be time to retire and could do with some garage space for more motorcycles :-)

Good call Shooter and Kin
Fascinating car, huge luggage capacity and fold down rear seats makes for practical car.
I can’t think of another car in my lifetime that does so much, the new model T?
If only I drove more... my family car has done 15k miles in 6 years.

Interesting article in Bloomberg on their hiring practice. No wonder that screen looks like an iPad. grin2

Fortunately they also hired people who know about cars. Chief engineer was Peter Rawlinson of Jaguar and Lotus, aerodynamics by Robert Palin (Williams F1), Shaun Johnson (Ferrari) and not least, the chassis was tuned by my pal Malcolm Burgess (late of Lotus)

Having done a bit of research on Tesla, I reckoned that a Model S is going to be pretty unaffordable for a while, but a Model X (assuming they get the doors sorted) or even a Model 3 would be an option in a few years, maybe as a 60th birthday/retirement present?

So anyway, I tentatively broached the subject to the Finance and General Purposes Committee (otherwise known as 'er indoors) , expecting to get short shrift, and got a very positive response, although mainly it consisted of "We can call it Nikolai!". Bless.

Best of all, one of the supplementary concerns was "Aren't they a bit slow? I wouldn't want to go around in something like a milk float."

"Oh, I think they do a slightly quicker one" came my response. So now I can start saving for a P85D, that should keep her happy...
