Hello,
Short drive to next village to my working garage. Steam washed the salt off there from the last drives and for the very first time greased the front suspension. Pumping into the lower nipples immediately brought out some grease but even after some pumps into the upper nipples couldn't see anything coming out and stopped further pumping...normal?
And on top I fitted my first accessory, a small halcyon rear mirror. Now I can see the road again, the original mirror covered a lot of the view into the bends.
Even the short drive was fun. And now it snows again.

On my 2011 Plus4, the top grease nipple takes many more pumps than the bottom nipple, before the grease oozes out.
Can I suggest that you remove the wheel so that you get a better view of the suspension whilst you grease the suspension and you should see the grease oozing out.
Remember to wipe off any excess grease to ensure you do not get any on the brake disks.

Wirewheel,
I took the wheels off to see where it comes out. Where should the grease from the upper nipple come out?
As often recommended, I wiped off the excess grease, those brake disks are really close.

Beltempo, The grease should come out at the same place when you grease either the top or the bottom nipple.
I find that less grease oozes out when I grease through the top nipple.

The grease is probably in the coil spring.

Wirewheel, Ray,
thank you for your information. It seems to me as if both grease nipples feed the same area. Upper nipple trough the kingpin and a little bore from inside and the lower nipple at the stub axle direct into the area between the bronze bushes. The drawing in the parts book gives that impression to me.
There were some discussions in the past about using oil on the upper and grease on the lower nipple, that would also only make sense if they were connected.
I'll ask my dealer next time. Again, thanks for the help,

Regards

Oh...go on then.....
I will re-dye the leather to brown?
Want me to do yours as well?
Dark brown/green looks good.
