The problem with lights, I find, is that most are OK on main beam these days, but it is the dipped beam which leaves a lot to be desired, especially when more and more cars are using extra bright gas discharge bulbs.

Has anyone come across a bulb which has a dipped beam rating at more than the standard [and legal] 55w, irrespective of the high beam power?

The other problem is that more and more people insist on driving everywhere on dipped lights, and therefore quite slowly, so when you come to overtake, you cannot use their lights to see the road ahead of them. I have no qualms in using my full beam whilst behind to illuminate the road. If they get dazzled then sod them!

Paul The Philips & Osram should both be better than standard dip beam at least I hope so. It is dip I want to improve. I agree with your comments about people driving on dip everywhere making it harder to pass them.
I have vintage Sunbeam with a dip switch on the steering boss. Its marked Dip & Normal i.e. in 1930s you were expected to be on main beam.

Whatever the lamp , make sure you go for the H4 connector type - that is compatible with the existing Morgan plug.

Just also be carefull to not drain more current (by using bulbs higher than 55/65W) it can cause an overheating or in the worst case fire in the cables.
I can not imagine that Morgan uses more thicker cables than the standard bulbs used...would cost to much for a 42K€ car.
Also consider that the Headlight reflectors and Glass is only plastic and could take damage due to the heat...

Basic thing was just a service but also some warranty things sorted out which were all cleared by Morgan very quickly but they then took two months to get some of the parts out and then only after a very pointed email though possibly not quite as pointed as some of the conversations Russell at Revolutions has been having with them. Anyway I now have a RHS headlight that hopefully will no longer spin randomly regardless of how carefully the locking mechanism is done up and has a different securing arrangement inside the bowl, another non-melted RHS front indicator, another cowl badge, a new LHS screen (a small crack had started from the bottom of it, a new former under the leather trim over the transmission tunnel (old one was breaking up and I will check to see if the new one is different) and a new gear stick. The gear shift was beginning to feel more notchy than it should and Revolutions found that the plastic seat and three tanged spring washer thing at the foot of the stick had both broken; this was the main bit that took the time to get replacements for.
