I know this seems odd, but I spend my life on here...
After a pretty eventful week, I am now a house sold, a missus down, pup aside(hehe, cheeky trapper knows who loves him.) and basically, in a mindset to 'eff of and go.
If of any consequence, my old man is garaging the Morgan(with his), and the brother is taking on my plebian (civil) engineering gig(pop and squeek at best! as the poms would call it :P )
I have ambitions of share trading but not at the expense of lifestyle, haha, so its no move to canary island or wharf or whatever is not on the cards.
any ideas team?

Well whatever you choose to do ..enjoy it! When I found myself alone 9 years ago it felt very odd at first. BUT for the first time in my lfe I could do whatever I wanted to do. So I did ...and it was very good fun too!

any ideas team? Hard to know what to suggest as I don't know much about you. I'd have said that Civil Engineering is a pretty portable skillset. Maybe you should travel around a bit & see if anywhere catches your fancy. For example, some of my French friends, a civil engineer & his wife decided (after the wife had overcome breast cancer) to "carpe diem" & build a boat to sail over to the carribbean. They did this about 5 years ago. Patrick's speciality is hydraulic engineering, and it didn't take him long to find consulting work out there - first a 2 year drinking water project in Trinidad, followed by a project in Saint Martin. Right now he is working on a project in Barbados. They're loving it, and really seem to be living the dream.

After my divorce I stagnated for a short while then realised I really could do whatever I wanted..... First the mog, hopefully back by May after my attempt at re-configuring crash barriers, this year another boat.... Do what ever you want to in complete freedom and enjoy your self

So I did ...and it was very good fun too! Been there as well...my wife died 9 years ago. I've spent those years enjoying only being accountable to myself apart from a couple of short lived flings but now I find I'd rather share my life experiences with someone.

If I'd realised that Civil Engineering could involve tunnelling under London, I could have been tempted. That must be a fantastic job.

So I did ...and it was very good fun too! And it still is ...even although I married my GF last June . Life just keeps getting better! If you keep true to your basic principals and maintain a positive cheerful outlook ( even when it hurts inside) all sorts of people will warm to you. Very few people tolerate negativity ...or misery!
