Its nothing to do with security, but keeping DaveW off the streets and well away from the normal population. We must keep him busy, so the rest of us Morgan owners can have a normal life. I think we should have request section for Dave, so that we can keep him in his garage doing little jobs for us all. laugh2

It seems to me that DaveW had a great time designing and producing his anti theift device....so what the problem?

He is happy ...and he shared his joy with us all.

I must say of all the articles in Miscellany I have come to enjoy Daves article very much. I could not be a concours bloke ...but I do admire those who are.
Each to their own!

The only decent article in Miscellany most months! First one I go to and then think....oh...read that on TM!

Keep up the good work Dave, as said by Jays, the only bit worth reading in Miscellany.
WARNING - slight thread drift - and with the departure of Quentin and the major changes in MSCC Travel; it makes me question the point of renewing my MSCC membership.

I agree with Jays here , people like Dave are so valuable, as are all the contributors to TM. If I could have say Dave's how to in book form ('cause I love to hold books) it and others contributions would be a joy. Thanks to all of you.

I think Morgan owners tend to be more choosey where we leave our cars parked, reducing theft/ damage likelihood. Car theft is mainly opportunist where things are seen on seats/ car not locked wtc. Organised gangs do pick specific vehicles but Morgans seem to be immune so far, apart from some Aero wheels nicked a couple of years ago?
Simple high visibility security is a good deterrent anyway so does make sense.....lockable luggage strapping etc..

Re budster comment about travel..........never used Quentin so no experience. I do remember that he would find ferry bookings at discount for DIY trippers though( correct?).
Will this still apply now or are we tied to fully organised tours etc?
Maybe a new thread to discuss?
I will start one!

There have been one or two spare wheel thefts - one is recorded further up this thread. When we toured Scotland I fitted a Halfords combination lock with a wire, but it looks 'tacky'. At least this way you need an open ender to release the wheel, and it takes time rather than just whipping off the T bar. In truth, a rack makes it slightly harder to get at the spare, but you never know. There are people out there who would pinch a spare just because they can.

On the subject of my column, thanks for the compliments. It takes a great deal of effort to knock this out every month without too much repetition, and I'm under pressure to write the next one now, for the next Miscellany. I'm up to number 55 and am thinking now about when to pass the job on. I'll be doing Llangollen in June, probably Milton Keynes in 2016, but I think by then it will be time to go. That's about another 25 columns so I'd better get on with it.

Peter will find out how hard this is in two years!

This is how I protect my spare wheel ..

My Dad's de-mob aluminium suitcase made from the outer skin of a Dakota...stripped,polished and fitted with quick release brackets
inside the case...
Usefull extra lockable storage and it makes my 88 year old Dad happy that the case he made in the 1950's has a new life !!!!

Regards
