Does anyone know the highest recorded mileage with an Aero, so far?

Tarka is at 16955 and hasn't been registered a year yet. Based on past performance over the next 10 years I'd expect to add another 75,000.....

So, very possibly 100,000 in 10 years. I'm confident the BMW bits will be fine. I wonder what else, if anything, might begin to show signs of age (other than me)!!

...might be interesting to see the lowest too.

37,188km at the last fill up. It has clocked 6,027km since it was purchased (1st April 2014), and has consumed on average 10.5l/100km. Twice is has returned <9l/100km on a tank of fuel. A day ragging the nuts off in the alps consumed 13.6l/100km.

As for lowest I'm not sure but mine is an 02 registered with 4000 miles

Ian (Shooter) used 'Black Demon' as a daily driver for many years and iirc had put a serious amount of miles on it.

Richard (mr_tony) had over 45,000 miles on his Aeromax, iirc, when he sold it last year and achieved close to £100,000 for it.

As for what will wear, the areas that seem to suffer are where metal meets metal and the rubber seals have perished or moved. These have all been spoken about on the site in various topics but they seem to occur around the lights and where the wings meet the body below the doors. Cars who have lived a pampered life (not been used when there is salt on the roads or in heavy rain) tend to suffer a lot less with this particular issue. It can be solved easily (a local area repaint) but the ideal solution is to replace the seals in the relevant area (to keep the two different metals apart and hence stop the electrolytic reaction) and then repaint.

Aero products are pretty bullet proof once any new build teething issues are resolved.

...I did just think of one reoccurring issue! The crappy door pins that turn on the interior lights and also cause the window to drop/raise-to-seal depending on the position of the door. Whomever provides these should be ashamed... they are the cheapest, most unreliable, part on the car. It is an easy fix but if you find your window isn't sealing, this is almost always the issue.

I do find it amazing how many ultra low mileage Morgans you do see on the net/for sale.

I understand why/how the cars do not get used though...some just like having one.

I have a silly theory that mechanical things need to be used.

Not using can cause all sorts of issues IMO.

Any complex mechanical device that isn't used is degrading, especially anything organic (plastic, rubber, leather, etc) and all fluids will be useless after 2 years.

Give me a 5 year old car with 25K miles and a full service history over a "garage queen" with 2000 miles at the same age...
