Autocar mag seems to think a rolls suv is an acceptable idea. It all seems a bit silly to me. I imagine it will sell but why would you want one.

Will morgan ever make an SUV I wonder. Bugatti, bentley, rolls royce and lamborghini are at it.

A SUV should be a robust and reliable car.
Typical strength of MMC? innocent

I agree - I saw the pictures today in the mag

Very silly

It will get to a point where every marque, luxury or not will have every vehicle type

I hope Morgan don't go the same way ( think it extremely unlikely due to development costs)
Morgan is a marque to me that harks back to a simpler era even with the Aero when marques had a very small inventory with unique identifying characteristics

Car sporting as kid was great - a Porsche was a Porsche (911)
A Ford was an Escort, Cortina or Granada
A Rolls was a Rolls
A Mini was a Mini, not 6 variants
A BMW was a rare 3 something or 5 something

Models lasted longer
Now I test myself (when really bored) to name the marque of every car I pass - A lot just look exactly the same, I struggle to differentiate a Hyundia from a Toyota from a Seat from a Vauxall from a Ford
All good cars no doubt but designed by wind tunnels, pursuit of efficiency, shared platforms, marketing departments & customer satisfaction surveys

Sorry ... Finished now ...I'll shut up for the night - about to watch Grand Budapest Hotel with Mrs S

I agree with what you say but it makes me smile as I remember back in the 1960s my parents used to say the same! They thought most 'modern' cars looked anonymous and weren't as stylish as back in the 1920s / 30s when one could immediately identify a car by it's distinctive radiator, mascot etc.

Cheers

Sadly, SUVs are what the market demands these days. Porsche are propped up by sales of their SUV and probably the likes of Bentley and RR see that.

In answer to the question - well they appear to have achieved it.

I have no doubt half of Man U will be driving them shortly, the USA, Gulf and Chinese market will go mad for them I'm sure. The German owners don't get marketing wrong...

Here is a shot of them testing on the Paris/Dakar in 1981 TIC.

Well we are not really the target market are we so at the end of the day it is (sad to say) not important. Peeps from the Land-of-sand, China, USA are the target and their perspective is quite different from ours.

I would love a Ghost or Wraith. Is that one down near Southampton going cheap yet ? I could get my local car wash to give it a quick hoover out with the wet and dry. It is almost as big as a RangeRoverSport and certainly as obnoxious from an ecological viewpoint?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
