Finally saw a Slingshot in person this weekend while out on a ride with my wife in the Moggie.
My first impression......... It's huge!........ When compared to the 3w
I was surprised by the overall size. It's is as wide as any small car out there. It's as big as a Miata.
When it first pulled up in the parking lot of the bar/ restaurant (Cook's Corner) we were at, a crowd formed around it for a few minutes. As the crowd slowly shrank we could see the car. It was tall and stood above all the bikes parked around it.
Cook's is an old Biker bar about 15 miles into the canyons near where we live. It's a lazy bendy road that's a pleasure to ride. On any given weekend several hundred bikes fill the parking lot. Mostly Harley's with a sprinkling of everything else.
Back to the slingshot........
It looks well built and good attention to detail and coming from Polaris I'm sure it drives nice
The styling is love it or hate it! I'm not a fan. Too many angles, facets and openings. The proportions are not balanced either. Heavy front end opposed by a skinny tall rear.
I would describe the Polaris as a three wheeled car vs the 3W as a three wheeled motorcycle.
The 3W is small and tight, you squeeze in and become part of the machine much like when you throw a leg over the saddle of a motorcycle and become part of the framework. The Slingshot looks more car like in its interior, more like and Arial Atom.
In closing, I don't really think they are in the same league. Different animals that will attract different people. Kind of like Harley's, it's a motorcycle that doesn't excell in any one area but the riding experience is like no other bike.

The front wheel stance is exactly the same width as the front end of my Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD truck and it is 6" wider than a C7 Corvette.
I think this was more of a stability issue. When you pass out a decent running "fun" vehicles to the masses that don't fully grasp potential problems, you better do something to protect your a$$. Kind of like the ATV three wheelers that were hurting people left and right in the 70's & 80's before being banned. The M3W is sort of self regulating with low traction front tires, whereas, the fat sticky tires of the SlingShot could put you in a roll-over situation sooner if not such a wide stance.
I had a SlingShot on order for 7 months before cancelling my order due to numerous issues and their inability to deliver. The rack and pinion recall is what prompted me to pull my order. I, however, test drove several SlingShots and they were fun to drive though ugly as hell. Though I drove it like I stole it, it seriously lacks the character that the M3W has. The SlingShot is more like an ATV, side-by-side or riding lawn-mower whereas you just take a water hose to it when it get dirty inside or out. I respect what Polaris is doing but it didn't really hit my mark. I wanted one for the fun factor with little consideration to character...but with the QA problems they have encountered, I already have one reverse three wheeler that needs TLC. Eventually, Polaris will get it straightened out but at the end of the day, it will still be ugly as hell.
I would rather have a M3W with 75% of the gusto of a well sorted SlingShot...but that's just me.

BTW the Slingshot web site is pretty good.
It "breaks" the car down into its various main components. Very well done and makes for interesting viewing/ reading.
Are they importing over here?
The UK does have a significant Polaris importer.

Ah yes, I remember Cook's Corner well. Many good times had there; a little different then than from today. Lived in Modjeska Canyon during the 70’s up the hill behind Madame Modjeska’s place. Spent more than a few hours at the Bird Sanctuary as well. Your post brings back fond memories. As for the Slingshot – not my cup of tea.

Any pic? Sorry, I was so underwhelmed by it I didn't even think of taking a pic. I'll snap one the next time I see it, hopefully with the 3w next to it.
