After having another couple of the 'as fitted' bobbins failing , I decided to look for something a bit stronger and long lasting.

I have had these alternatives on now for over 1000 miles including some serious competitive events and no failures .... I have almost stopped checking for cracks in the rubber which is dangerous.
They look and feel sturdier due to the larger diameter, and as they dont reduce in size in the center.

They are a bit bigger diameter than standard, and on one face only I needed to trim the bonded metal washer down on two sides with a quick lick with an angle grinder so it fits in the vee shape where it attaches to the body.
Bolt size is the same as normal.

exhaust, they are way to big for the rectifier

At a tenner for four, gotta be worth a punt..!

They are what I call A35 bobbins but no idea if they were really fitted to that car. A reasonably standard exhaust bobbin in the UK and not too hard to get.

89p each but you need to add VAT and carriage.

No problem for me exhausts bobinns are always good ( 12000 miles)

I've ordered 4 of the bobbins as nippymog has recommended. The A35 bobbins at 89p each work out more expensive when you add postage and VAT

I followed Paul J's advice from an earlier thread and am using Caterham bobbins.

The original rectifier ones failed at about 1,300 miles. The Caterham's have now done about 2,200 and are looking fine.

Gosh, I didn't know anyone ever listened to me Chris, let alone followed any advice I might give. Great to hear those Caterham bobbins are still holding together.
