Will have to fit it by myself if Williams does ship the unit to the continent. Driving to the UK is quite a distance for me...

Same for me...fitting should not be the problem, but what about reprogramming the ECU?

Testing has shown that the mixture is rich in factory form. The closed loop system has feedback to adjust injection and maybe firing times to account for the improved airflow.
The s&s ecu only has limited 3rd party remap options for Morgans at this stage. The vehicle is somehow locked from having non 3wheeler ECUs attached. This is in my opinion umfair commercial practice and limiting behaviour by either s&s or morgan in order to block other firms from improving performance. I wouldnt mind if MMC had released the upgrades by now but it is all looking unlikely. With enough investigation and expertise this will be overcome but is going to be an expensive and high risk process.

Any actor trying to remap the morgan spec ecu runs the risk of irreversibly immobilising the vehicle by corrupting the ecu. Any workaround has to take this into account. However this would be a lucrative venture for any firm as it would be inimitable work. It is a case of whether enough people are interested to make it a commercially viable investigation. Most 3w owners only drive a couple of miles a year...

Williams informed me by mail: "pipe fitting takes less than an hour per side" but did not mention any need for changing the ECU settings

Thanks for the info....having my ears wide open to see how you two will perform with the stage1 upgrade listening ....and also jump on that train

Cheers,
Georges

R1nga, many thanks for the background to the team behind Gar 56, they certainly sound as if they know their stuff, and it is good that they have chosen the Three Wheeler to concentrate on. As we all know there is so much potential in the car, if only there was someone who had the knowledge to take it forward, and it sounds as if they are the ones.

As a matter of interest, Wikipedia came up with the original reason for the name Garage 56 which was coined at LeMans for experimental cars which could find no class to race in, but who needed 24 hours of racing to develop new technology.

Garage 56

The ACO continued the Garage 56 concept, started in 2012. Garage 56 allows a 56th entry to the race, using the rigors of the 24 Hours of Le Mans to test new technology.

Keen to hear how you get on. I was quoted £250 to fit the kit including vat so £1500 total. Fitting doesn't seem tricky of course but given exhaust failures I would rather be sure it's done properly!

I have seen here a diagram with power output and torque over rotations, but I can't find it again. Who knows a link?

And is there a discussion of this Garage 56 stage 1 kit, sold by Williams and the stage 1 kit of Morgan themselves?

Thanks a lot

Achim who just read that the Garage 56 / Williams kit is sold out actually

Here's the link:

Interesting the stock motor is producing 100bhp at the flywheel - which would be consistent with 85 at the back wheel.
