Waiting for the first MTW live reports of TMers who got the upgrade.
Will have to fit it by myself if Williams does ship the unit to the continent. Driving to the UK is quite a distance for me...

Word of warning if you are considering entering Morgan three wheeler club events with a car fitted with non - Morgan sourced parts like this - under the sporting formula which describes what class a car will fall into depending on its level of modification , cars with non Morgan parts are specifically excluded.
I gasped slightly when I read it , but thems the rules. I'm surprised that there's not simple Modified Class for those cars with bits not sanctioned by MMC, as even 3W's with the much praised Empire Kit would be excluded then. Shame, as all this is in the overall interest of everyone really - customers and factory alike. From the MTWC Bulletin - the "Track Modified" class allows non-Morgan free flowing silencers. It also refers to a "Free Flowing" Air filter, no mention of it being from Morgan. So it would appear a Garage56 modded M3W could take part in the club events but only in the "top" class. As R1NGA points out - steering has to be "as original Morgan" so that would appear to rule out Empire kitted cars. I think you'd have to be a very obtuse scrute to turn a car away on fitting an Empire steering modification. The aim is to get more people competing, not less! Of course, if you consistently wipe the board every time you go out, then things 'may' be tightened..

I like the look of the stage 1 air intake, but I'm not wild about the way the exhaust looks. Will they offer them individually, I wonder?

Doesn't include fitting... I'd also prefer the exhaust shields to be painted which would cost more so probably looking at close to £2k.
I will wait for more information about how well it works in practice...

I will wait for more information about how well it works in practice... I would certainly want black shields to keep the original look of my car, but I'm not too sure how much extra that would bem but not much I suspect. Fitting should be pretty straightforward for anyone with a few metric spanners and patience - removing and refitting the entire exhaust from one side only too me about 30 mins last time I did it. The new brackets will take a bit of investigation I suppose, but I can see why they would need replaced as the silencer is bigger of course. I actually think the look remains pretty close to the original, which is why I like it. The few US custom jobs I've seen with radically different (normally chopped-down) silencers look plain wrong to my eye I'm afraid.

How easy is it to get at the exhaust clamps - looks like these need to be replaced? Point noted about exhausts.
To be honest, if it does what it says it does it sounds like the only upgrade I probably want and need, especially if it helps with pinking, but I'm just a tad sceptical of the improvements being that good.

Looks very interesting and assuming the power and torque increases are in the ballpark of the graphs then it could take the three wheeler up to where it should be.
Has anyone heard these pipes in action yet? Personally, I am happy enough to tolerate louder exhausts but don't actually want anything louder than standard, if that makes sense. I definitely do not want pipes as loud as the factory sports pipes I heard just over a year ago.
So who is going to be first to cough up for the Garage 56 kit then?

I'm sure we'll get feedback onto here pretty quickly once folks give them a try - a bit like we did with the Empire kit. Personally I am not in the slightest bit surprised that the gains were that easy to come by - you just have to look at the design and build of the stock silencers to realise that they are specifically made to NOT work very well. And whilse £1250 delivered might not exactly be the cheap end of the market, it's a lot less expensive than the cash you'd need for something decent in the German car world - see the prices of Milltek, APR, Akrapovic, MTM, Schnitzer or any other top-end tuner systems. And those compete with really well designed OEM systems too, so improvements are typically more sound based rather than giving up much in the way of power increases (eg: Akrapovic for the new RS4 is +7bhp which is 1.5% increase for the neck end of £5000!!). I'll take 16% for £1250 any day thanks Again, from my conversations with the guys at G56 I'd be amazed if those dyno figures were not 100% accurately reported and I'd be hugely disappointed if they turn out not to be the case. All very exciting I think!

This afternoon I drove my mog up to coventry to see the garage 56 stand at retro racing. I was very impressed with the extent of thought that has gone into the design. Paticularly with how they managed to get a wider tube to still look good and fit through the wishbones without causung the exhaust to hit the mud gaurds on full lock. I dont think the photos have done it justice and you need to see a car in the flesh.
The team have done extensive testing along the pipe to determine operating temperatures and the effects of a cat on the power output etc. I trust they have a good understanding of the lean\rich debate based upon evidence.
This is not a simple exersize of bolting tubes to the side of a car... These are engineers not technicians and if you want a good design solution you have to pay for it. Hence £1250 is not just a fair price, it is a bargain compared with the thousands of £ that I have lavished to the mrgan god keeping it on the road this last year.
Whilst the team have done some testing in the real world perhaps the structure is something they need to reassure me about more. I have personally had two exhausts crack in the last year and dont want the bother again. But these g56 ones are gauranteed for a period of time. I have no reason to suspect they have not been careful in designing the structure. I would be buying tomorrow but I am halfway through buying a house and cannot have an indulgence at this time. Really it all depends upon what you want to get out of the m3w exlerience. Charles
