Well here I am in India again, so a few photos for enjoyment!

The flight from London to Bangalore arrives at 5.30am, so the first photo is the sun rising over the suburbs on Friday Morning.

The second photo is a typical Indian truck taken yesterday as we passed a toll booth on the Bangalore ring road. Indian motorways have their own unique driving style. In theory the Indian road rules are as in the UK: keep left unless overtaking. But that doesn't happen: the trucks, limited to 50kph hug the central reservation so overtaking is on the inside. Crazy but it seems to work.

The last photo taken in the city centre is a street vendor selling roasted nuts. The smoke is from the charcoal fire under the loadbed... note also the squares of old newspaper used to make paper cones in which to serve the nuts...

The road sign is also typical, and usually ignored by all...

India is something else, but possibly not a place for modern Morgans!

I used to travel a lot to India and ended up with a soft spot for the way it works. Have a great trip.

Lived in New Delhi for 2.5 years, '87-'90 and it was memorable for many reasons, not least of which was the worst car I have ever had! It was a new, locally produced Standard 2000 which was a facelift SD1 fitted with a Vanguard Sportsman engine designed in the 50's. Fortunately it was a company car and was quickly disposed of. On seeing your first photo I could instantly smell the cow dung fires.

it does get to you, I been visiting for 20 years and have a "love hate" relationship with the place. From meetings this weekend it looks as if I'll be back again later this year.

In Bangalore there are no more cars from the "old European" vintage, all the Ambassadors, Fiat 124s and SD1s have gone.

They have been replaced by modern cars from local and imported production. In two days I've seen as many Evoques as I see in the same time period around Salisbury!

But the morning smell of burning cow dung...much reduced from 20 years ago. Even so I'll never forget it.

I remember "KentAcky Chicken" and a truck with a freshly painted "HRON Please" instead of the typical "HORN Please." I chuckle when I think of it. I was there when they opened the 'new' Bangalore International Terminal. Put it all in perspective for me. Stay safe!

I've traveled half a dozen times to India and love it. I agree with all that's been said about driving style. My favourite but frightening memory was of traveling in a taxi the wrong way down a motorway to a one way only exit because it was 'not so far sir, no danger'.

Sorry I hate the place, could be because every time I visit I come down with food poisoning. Saying that work takes me very much off the tourist route.

I usually ate at the Hotels, so never got sick, but I do remember having a private lunch with the Director of BEL in his private lunch room. The chaffing dishes were filled with non-discript brown soupy stuff, white soupy stuff and green soupy stuff. I took a little of each to be polite. After lunch I was chastised by my Indian partner. I had eaten the brown soupy stuff with the white soupy stuff, when it should have been the green soup stuff. Yikes, I could have started WWIII.

I think they are gearing up for WW111 .....they've just committed to £10bn spend on upgrading their armed forces! At least we are now stopping financial
