Theres no denying a 2 litre turbo when set up well would be an incredible weapon.
I even went so far as to have some friends who work in F1 engine development run some engine simulations for me to see what would be achievable from a built Duratec.

The numbers are staggering- provided you can sort out the cooling limitations around the exhaust ports on the Duratec cylinder head.

However in my opinion, and also based on empirical evidence a trad chassis is more or less limited to around 300-350 horsepower without substantial reinforcement. The torque of the engine once multiplied through the drivetrain is such that the chassis begins to twist and warp (and acts as a giant uncontrolled spring) depending on how much the loud pedal is pressed. This leads to an unpredictable handling race car
(this is not to say that some drivers couldn't actually make it work) but I believe ultimately it will be quicker with a reinforced chassis

Simon I fully agree with you.
If I was too build one then it would be around 350bhp marker. Tim Harrison is the only one running a 2L Duratec turbo, with the tech committey he has a agreed a 1.5bar of boost max. He should of won races last year!

The only picture I can show from today's work on the car.

Finally finished off the fuel tank drain pipe work.

I wish I could show you more

Battery back where it should be. Those of you that can remember the 2013 build I placed the battery here only to be told I wasn't allowed and had to mount it in the vehicles original position. Now I'm allowed to have it here.

Happy days

That engine space is still frustratingly empty!
