Why would you want different size tyres for front and rear - you only have one spare. Or am I missing something.

Welcome to the Forum. I can't give you any specific advice on those sizes however if you have a look at one of the tyre comparison web sites this will give you information on the widths, diameter, sidewall height and revolutions per kilometre of each tyre so that you can compare.
Things to watch out for include any differences in width that can cause clearance problems, different diameters that will affect ground clearance and gearing (including the requirement to recalibrate the speedometer) and if you have a spare wheel checking that a different tyre will still fit in the spare wheel well.
After looking into changing the tyres on my plus 4 I have decided to stick with the standard sizes for the moment because of the other changes that would need to be made but please don't let that put you off.
Good luck.

I would certainly not use larger section tyres on the rear for 2 reasons:

1 It will promote understeer
2 The wider section will most likely rub on the exhaust during cornering as clearance is normally pretty minimal

Normally I would recommend using the smaller section tyres on a 4 cylinder Morgan, the wider tyres can make it less responsive.

Do you have , 6 inch wire wheels , or 6.5 inch alloys?

Andy

PS I love Slovenia , I come every year in June to Bovec to kayak on the Rivers Soça and Koritnica. The mountain roads must be great fun in a Morgan.

Miran,

If you have the 6 inch wire wheels I would definitely stick with the 195/65 x 15 tyres. The 205/60 x 15 are possibly going to be too large for optimum mounting on the rims.

Andy

PS Yes I have noticed the poor condition of the roads in June , I assumed that was the winter damage from ice, as there are always repairs be made to the road over Praedel Pass . I am driving a large van with 22 kayaks on board so I don't notice it so much.

I run 195/65R15 on all four wheels on our 2008 +4 4-seater. Going up to 65 profile gave me 10mm more ground clearance. It also allowed me to use a 4/4 165R15 spare wheel saving a little weight at the tail.
