It seems to me that classics with very low mileage get to a stage when it's all about preserving the low mileage rather then enjoying the car - they can't be driven because that low, low mileage has to be kept low.

Some models are so expensive they can no longer be taken onto those dirty, dangerous roads - when was the last time you saw a DB5 going by?

DB5... 1965. Means that, assuming that the max will have the same destiny, I need to buy it when I am 30, then stare at it in my garage for 50 years (of course driving it once per year to the dealer for the service), then sell it for a very good amount of money when I am 80. Not sure that this is what I want from my car.

Mike - I was talking about the rarer models - the cars being bought sight unseen were 911 S models from the early 79s - pre 73 mostly. Alongside their RS And ST brethren these are sought after classics and I would wager many are owned and not driven now.

However these price increases (RS at over 500k?) means that the regular cars have seen their prices driven up artificially as a result.

I'm sure when the stock market looks like a sure bet and interest rates at the bank or government bonds look like better investments then a lot of non enthusiasts will drop out of the classic market. At that point I think the market will correct.

As for the Aeromax - it has a market and it is rare. Given that fact I think it will hold its original list price or gain quietly for a long time to come. I doubt it will double in value overnight. I hope they do gain significantly though - I will have one again in time, and a car that is appreciating is likely to be kept in good order kept original and be usable.

I've owned 4 Aeros over time, and overall I list practically nothing on buying and selling. They are very solid bets from a depreciation perspective...

I dont think The Aeromax will ever drop to 50k whilst the trads command such high prices second hand and Morgan keep hiking the prices as they do.However when the new Aero is unveiled at Geneva there will be another price hike and prices of Aeromaxes will surely firm up a bit as with all later Aeros.

Supply and DEMAND. I spent ages finding the first S2.
Its all about people becoming aware of them and wanting one.
The latter part happens as soon as the first part happens.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
