Having been stung by the Three Wheeler debacle, in which the factory acted so badly to the buyers of early cars, I would tread very carefully indeed if thinking of ordering one of the new Aero 8s. It is conceivable, but not likely, that they will get it right first time. If they don't, even if the cars costs £75k, and I don't see them selling it for much less, the customer is going to be really, really annoyed if things start going wrong and the factory do not sort out the issues in a timely and cost effective manner, which they did not do with the Three Wheelers.

Paul my guess is that it will be the well proven aero chassis with cosmetic body/trim/hood? re-styling.

I'm with Deano on that. This will simply be a make over in my view.

There isn't a lot of room behind the seats for a folding roof on the Aero tub. However, I saw a Z4 today and the roof shape is very similar. Then I got thinking - what if BMW supplied the roof and the mechanism. OR just the mechanism. A lot of folding roofs are not steel anyway - just a light composite. So a new roof could be fabricated at not much cost.

Mechanisms are still heavy though. The best roof I've seen is on the Ferrari 575 super america - very compact and very neat.

I can't see an electric folding roof here - and if they have I'll be sad - lightweight is what the car deserves - not a big heavy chunk of hinges and Pistons and framework raising the centre of gravity..

God I wish I could say what I now know...

And I wish could afford what is to be revealed !!

Of course it will be finished in time for the show just keep your head down and work there's cameras everywhere.

Looking at the profile picture of the car in Autocar I do somehow see a folding roof. Also the rear of the car looks slightly "swollen" as the folding tin tops tend to! (think SLK/SL).

The teaser photo released today by Morgan showing the rear quarter shows what looks to be a large flat rear top panel that sits atop the rear of the car with the panel gap running along the top of the rear wing, suggesting the panel "could" just open the opposite way to a conventional boot lid.

Agree on the 575 Super America - a truly stunning vehicle. If it does end up being a folding tin lid, the weight will be interesting but when you consider the output of the 4.8 V8 compared to the S1..S3 4.4 V8's, I don't suppose performance will be hindered beyond the S1's..S3's.

Anyway, Morgan certainly have achieved their objective and created much speculation - exciting
