Oh dear! Lets not star a soft top vs hard top thing. The next thing you know there will be people telling us that true Morgans should not have stereo systems or air conditioning hide

LOL!!!!!!

All Morgans may have stereo and A/C. It is down to user choice.
I like both, but I respect the alternative "hair shirt" option!

I remain unconvinced about powered folding hard tops. I had a Mercedes SLK with one and it found it not to my liking. as used to be said, neither one thing nor the other.

Have to say that I rather like the one on my Z4. Looks good, leak and rattle free, operates quickly and stores away neatly. On a car the price of the new Aero 8 I'd be happy to have such a roof. It's a modern Morgan with styling that hints back to Morgan heritage....it's not as if we are talking about fitting a powered hood to a Trad!

If the new morgan is a Fhc I would love to own one ,I've always thought the Fhc e type is a better looking car than the convertible .The 2+2 however did nothing for the profile as it raised the roof and changed the screen angle ,which proved that a little change can have a big outcome .

Stereo systems = exhaust pipes
Aircon = roof down or side screens off or both
Morgan Owner = Whatever you fancy on YOUR car
oops hide

Simon, I'm sure if the new Aero 8 roof proves to be a folding tin top, and it's complicated, ugly and lazy, not to mention heavy, I'm with you.

However, if it proves to be simple, handsome, efficient and light weight......I'd want one. I'm fairly open minded enough to entertain such an enhancement and believe Morgan as a company need two strings to their bow; 1) to maintain an arm of traditional manufacturing, it's their heritage and 2) to satisfy a more progressive customer base to safeguard their future. I also believe they're doing that...hence the reason we have such a mixed bag of views on here which is great.

I've heard there is a triangular ash winch rising about 5 feet above the cockpit that the winch is attached to. rofl

No!!! They're more progressive than that. It'll be a steam based pulley system for the folding roof.....so long as you've stoked the engine!!

Hi Peter, my wife has an SLK which we've just been out in today. Roof off until 14:00 then heavy rain so roof on. Fantastic.....couldn't get anything in the boot mind.....but we didn't get wet from a leaky roof!!! joy
