Nice bit of kit. As the Inforad company site is very poor for information I read a few reviews of the product. They state 5 hour battery life. John does this ring true?

Sorry I haven't tested it for long enough. My logic was the longest drive I normally do is 4 hrs from Amersham to Ruabon so it should be ok.

I'll switch it on now at 07:45 & see how it goes

I'd guess that you could use one of these: -

Griffin PowerJolt

It fits into a standard lighter socket and allows you to use any USB cable to charge devices such as iPods, iPhones or Blackberrys. As it powers standard USB devices, I don't see why it wouldn't work on this; however, until someone actually tries it out waiting wink

The other thread describing this device says it has its own power cable:

"Aeroman,
it has a claimed battery life of 6 hrs. It comes with a cigar light adapter which the USB stick end fits into so you can recharge in the car.

It also charges of a USB port on a PC.
You update via software you download.

To answer other questions:-
1. I guess it will work with the top up, but haven't tried it as I usually drive top down. But it works in my c class estate & is designed for tin tops so I guess it would.
2. Because it emits a loud noise & flashing lights I notice it more easily than my sat nav.

Hope that helps."
