I have received an email from my mog dealer today with information about the new aero 8. From many angles I like it very much, however, I am less than convinced that the rear is as resolved as the rest of the design. To my eyes it is too bulbous and detracts from the other lines.
Putting that to one side what really struck me as out of step was the driver and that he was wearing a flat cap. I am aware that stereotypical trad drivers are stimgatised with the flatcap but I was surprised to see Mog Co perpetuate that fuddy duddy image in their promotion for the new aero. Am I alone in feeling the image it set was disincongruous with the vehicle?

Interesting point Trevor but I've been surprised on more than one occasion when fashions I consider to be old fashioned or fuddy duddy have come full circle and are again seen as 'de rigueur'...

A flat cap for speed limit days and a baseball cap turned round when you accellerate away from a Bmw driver on your tail seems a good compramise to me.

I think the "fashionista" have adopted the tweed flat cap. Dubarry of Ireland offer them at almost £70!!!!
Yes, I've got one...but I drive what looks like a Trad.
And I agree with the photos of the rear are a bit odd, but before making up my mind I want to see the car "in the metal".

Em Surely it would be the crass BMW driver that was wearing the baseball cap? Oh dear! Now that I think of it the Aero is a BMW. (well engine, gearbox, ECU, etc) PS. I don't feel at all stigmatised. Folliclly challenged, yes, but stigmatised, no. I need something to protect my sun damaged scalp so I always were a hat when out in the sun.

Point of order sir,a Gertrac gearbox if you have to pick, obviously you wont have to turn your cap around as you drive a Ford difficult to blow the hat off (not enough grunt).

Em I thought it was a ZF box - as per BMWs original spec.

Dodgy ken.The Mk1 had the gertrag box with no rubber mountings it is basically a race set up it also has no rubber bushes.New owners tend to get that driveline shunt but you do learn to overcome it given time now i dont notice it.
