I have to agree with Neil, do keep writing Dave. The mag. is pretty boring generally, I find the local areas of interest, the adverts possibly good, but probably out of date by the time the Mag is out, and Daves articles good.

We need far more about the cars, we also need some hint that MSCC have even acknowledged that MMC is now making a Three Wheeler and we need a deceent interactive website, we shouldn't need to discuss this sort of thing over here.

But whilst the MSCC Web Site can be solved the Forum is a harder question. MogTalk is not my style of Forum, it is an ancient "Bulletin Board" and I find it impossible to Navigate.

Setting up a new forum to run as the "Official MSCC" Forum is easy to do, but doing so raises issues.

1. Software: there are free options, but nothing is really free. So the site development and running costs have to be paid for.
2. Moderation: ideally a team of 3. Who? I've run and moderated a forum (bike related) and it isn't something I really want to do again.
3. Blurred focus: I don't really want to have to visit 2 places to deal with Morgan stuff. But TM belongs to Simon and not everyone here has any interest in MSCC, so as things stand this isn't the place for all MSCC Stuff.

I suspect these issues will come out in the wash, I and Peter Chapman are very aware that change is needed and we are not just talking about it.

As a relative newcomer (and a non-UK-based one) to both MogTalk and the MSCC, but having been around Morgans for a long time, I'll throw in my $0.02 to this debate:

My car is a 1985 model, and the nature of the car (it has no electronics to speak of), my own predilections as a tinkerer, and the fact that I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic, conspire to make my fingernails almost perpetually oily.

I have found an absolute wealth of helpful information, both technical and not-so-technical, on this site and other web resources. The search function on this site is my best friend while Morganing!

Miscellany has some pretty pictures and a few nuggets (another endorsement here for DaveW's articles - keep 'em coming!) of interest amongst the slew of articles that I mostly gloss over. The MSCC doesn't offer me a whole lot else, but having effectively transitioned the "family" membership to me after my dad died last year, I am loath to give it up as he was a strong supporter of MSCC and his local Centre (LogMog).

What seems to be a recurring theme from members (both here and on MogTalk) seems to be bemusement at MSCC's inability to find a way to overcome liability concerns in publishign technical pieces. Every other car club, and all sorts of other organizations where there is a possibility of incompetence leading to injury, manage to insert appropriate waivers that satisfy their lawyers.

Granted, as new Morgans have become more expensive and complex beasties, the nature of ownership has changed too. I suspect there are now more owners than ever before who have a Mog as one of a stable of cars. There are fewer grubby-fingernailed tinkerers (and even those that have an inclination are more likely to be armed with a laptop than a torque wrench). But there are still plenty of enthusiastic amateurs of middling competence who would welcome hints, tips and advice from those with greater expertise and experience.

And a quick thought on MogTalk: I have only just signed up to this, but I don't think I'll be spending much time on it. Email list servers and clunky web interfaces are a bit out of date. Dare I say it, it seems somehow appropriate that the official Morgan board is less user friendly than "aftermarket" alternatives such as TM

This liability thing is ridiculous. Just lo8k at all 5he health advice that comes out in every free mag you get, waitrose, saga, etc.etc.you name it, they are trying to give me diet advice....how do they get away with it?
Anyway, if Dave stops writing a page, I walk. Finis.

And I totally agree with him, however over the past few years quite a few folk have reported many articles they have sent to Miscellany without acknowledgement or publishing and they have given up in disgust.

Agree with JTL, and others, without Dave W's contributions Miscellany, would be a poorer place.
