Honestly, chaps! Could we possibly get back to the topic. I agree with Peter that the grime-sucking tendencies of our Plus 8 cars IS a serious drawback. I have driven open top cars for 33 years now and have had Peugeot, Ford, Porsche and BMW in many different shapes and guises. None of them fouled their own nest. The Plus 8 gets absolutely covered in dirt after just a few hours of slow driving on gravel roads when I hunt for mushrooms, and when I drove to Italy it disabled me with conjunctivitis due to all the grit in spite of wearing wraparound sunglasses. I have to wear air force goggles on longer trips. If one holds up ones hand one notices that the airflow indeed goes forward, in the direction that Your car takes, even when held at the level of the seat. So, clearly, there is a huge turbulence problem. I wonder if one could add a 10 cm extension attached to the bottom rear of the car. Has anybody tried that solution?

I've been thinking along the same lines and have started to think that airflow under the car is part of the problem.
Firstly, the back end of Roadster I had previously was finished with a curved "diffuser" below the number plate and containing the red fog and reversing lights. On the Plus 8 the bottom of the car is flat.
Secondly the Plus 8 front wings are "filled in" behind the wheels, so that air can't easily escape backwards. Instead it must go under the car as the wheels nicely fill the wheel arch, especially with Aeromax wheels.
So, I think that it is time to pay attention to the rear underside. As the underside of the car is so flat it shouldn't be too difficult to fit a Trad rear unit to the car.
I'm also going to put a case on the rack and see if that has any sort of effect on the airflow.

A Morgan paper-thin faux leather trunk made in china has unfortunately no effect on the airflow...I have tried for many days and miles.

Nice trip on Dartmoor today with spray and muck outside and inside the car as per normal... Plenty of Horse dermot but no Bulls around. Some finely tooled leather craft around and about with a very good seat in motion.

According to http://www.ati.org.uk/technology/wind-tunnels/There are plenty of universities with wind tunnels, you only need up to around 40m/sec or less, I wonder if it might be worth finding out if it would be possible to borrow/hire one for an hour or two? If you picked one where students were on automotive design courses, you might find they'd be very interested in having a look.

I thought MMC has a clever software based virual wind tunnel...
Have to talk to the guys at Morgan about it.
But yes. i'll explore the wind tunnel idea as well. The two best would be the ones at Red Bull and Williams. Anyone have any good connections???

The windscreen is an air dam. Too flat and vertical so air swirls over it and into the cockpit. Like the rear of a van/hatchback. Improved airflow over the windscreen would help but not cure the forward flow on passengets heads. More rake to windscreen? Higher?some way of catching and diverting the air as it passes over? Not easy without altering the car's profile/ styling. I have a windbreak for behind my head but had to remove it for a rollbar. I may alter it to try it again, but didn't find it hugely successful when it fitted. So...it's hat/scarf/wipe any dirt for now.
