I am sure this has been discussed before but I could not see the thread.

I have Avon VZ5s on the car currently and need two tyres. I would like more grip particularly in the wet. With the exception of trackday tyres I do not know what to get.

Any ideas would be great.

Neilm has just fitted Toyo T1Rs onto his Roadster and said they are great, he has not driven them in the wet yet, but are supposed to be good. We use them on our MR2 hill climb car as intermediate/wets and find them pretty good. I think New Elms recommend them for +8s and Roadsters. I wouldn't mix tyres on a Morgan, when my rears go I will by a set.

Like all new tyres (whatever you choose) they'll need the release compound removing/wearing off before showing their true abilities.

Agreed.

I have just fitted new wheels and tyres to our horse trailer (cheaper than just the tyres ???) and when finished, my hands felt "slippery" - the release compound must be rich in silicon.

Good suggestions and thanks.

Here is my problem, all the suggestions appear not to be made in 205/60 15

So, what size do you fit or am I mistaken?

My Roadster has 16in wire wheels so I fitted Toyo T1R 205/55/R16 and they are very grippy even with some of the silicon still on. You could go down to 55 and this would drop the car by 10mm, so probably not a good idea. The other tyre worth considering is the Vredestein Sportrac which has also been recommended.

I spent sometime researching sizes and have discided to get the Avon CR6ZZ 215/60 15.

They are expensive but may save on body panels!

I don't think you will be sorry, I have tried desperately to hang the tail out on my + 4 but it just won't go drive
