I need to replace the tyres on my +4 T16 - it currently has the original 1996 Avons and I have no issues with them.
I am thinking of replacing them with equivalent Dunlop SP Sport BluResponse or Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance because they are both well respected brands and their stated wet grip performance is the best available.
Part of my thinking is that I have been used to a modern saloon with ABS and I want the best braking I can get in the Morgan. I have had her for 2 years and clocked up about 8000 miles, but I don’t trust myself not to slam the brakes on too hard and loose it in an emergency – I have lost it once.
My local tyre fitter has said he rates Toyo and Falcon as good choices but I have looked at the stated wet grip ratings and they are not as good as the Dunlop and Goodyear.
What experience do T-Mers have of these tyres?
What tyres do you all use and what comments do you have about them?
Left alone, I would probably buy Goodyear.

I've not used Goodyear tyres on anything for years. My two preferences are Avons and Dunlop. I've got Avons on the Mog and had them on the last Mog.
But if you want masses of wet grip especially in cooler weather and are not overly concerned by dry grip at the limit I'd go for Vredesting Quatrac all season tyres.

I have just asked a similar question on this site and got some sound advice: http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/259929/Tyres_for_a_raodster#Post259929I also asked a few friends and one suggested Continental Contisport as they are A in wet braking. Ordering mine today as they do them in the right size too.

With the age of your current tyres, you are going to enjoy superior grip no matter what you buy!
Like Peter, I'm a fan of Avons for my wider tyred Roadster but in your case with the narrow 4/4 tyres I'd probably go for Vredestein Sprint Classics which are widely used by Morgan owners.

I replaced the ageing Pirelli tyres on my Plus 8 last year and purchased Dunlop Sport BluResponse.
Very pleased with them having travelled to Le Mans and back etc. in all weather conditions.
Biggest surprise was the difference noticed immediately after leaving the tyre depot as I had thought the old tyres were ok. What a transformation to ride and handling!

Don't believe everything you read on comparison websites about wet grip. The fact that a particular tyre suits something like a VW Golf in the wet does not mean that you will get a similar response in a Morgan. The experience of Morgan drivers is a much better resource.
If you really want the very best grip in dry and wet , then go for the expensive Avon CR6 ZZ , you will run out of brakes before you run out of grip , BUT , they will cost you twice to three times the price of alternatives, and the wear rate is high.
My local dealer strongly recommends the Avon ZV5 for all trad Morgans, and they drive a lot more cars than any of us under some very different conditions. Very reasonable price too. This is what I use and in general I m avery pleased with them, a great improvement on the Yokohama A520s they replaced in both wet and dry.
However the choice of most "competitive" drivers is the Toyo Proxes T 1R , and if they made them in the right size for my +8 they would be my automatic choice , every time, however the 205/55 x 15 cuts my ground clearance to get over a lip in my garage. I have even thought of going to a 16 inch alloy (non-standard of course) in order to be able to use them.

Have to say that whilst the CR6ZZs gripped really well in the dry on my 4/4, I wasn't that keen of them in the wet. They certainly aquaplaned! They are quite soft as well...which isn't surprising...and had a tendency to pick up gravel.

They seem an old style tread and lack the water channel most modern tyres have. I have gon for Dunlop Sport BluResponse based on test data. (also price 55 pound for 195/60 15H) Jon the Chief

The CR6ZZs are superb in the dry- and are heavily influenced by both inflation and shock settings.
They are not bad in the wet- just not as good as in the dry- but I guess that is the case for the majority of tyres?
