If they're still running the software that was in place for a while I doubt it would handle it... Without major crashes...

Peter paying it through fuel duty would mean I would be paying on my exempt 1930 Sunbeam granted that would be about £40 at my current average. On the other hand I would save on my M3W & Skoda as they do around 4k & 3k a year.

You are lucky they have not issued a fixed penalty fine.

I have always thought that tax on fuel instead of road tax would be the best solution. People then pay for the miles they travel and actual road use. The only problem is to work out rebates or tax reduced sales to farm and other non-road uses.

I don't suppose all those who have bought blu or green editions with inferior comfort & stopping distance to avoid annual duty would be amused to see it applied to fuel.

There are anomalies that have to be built into the system; the tax is paid at an annual rate and months are all different lengths. Months are really nothing to do with it, just introduced to catch us out.

The motorist is taxed whenever they can and they make no attempt to even do it fairly.

What happened to 'the road fund'.

Grump, grump ....

Here here, when I sold the Max I had just paid my yearly insurance premium , £960 only 5 weeks into the renewal the insurance company ( CHUBB) gave me full refund prorate to the day, £873.00 landed back in my Bank within 48 hours of the call, a lesson for DVLA GREEDY BA@@@@@S
