Took my Aero 8 S3 out for a blast with my 13 year old son (who is rather fond of Pagani Zondas, Maclaren MPthingies, Lamborghinis etc. But he also loves the Morgans (including our M3W).

I'd not driven in half decent weather for a few months and had gone out in the rain a couple of weeks earlier roof up but this was the real deal - dry roads, not too much traffic, fresh 98 unleaded in the tank.

My goodness, what a great car, and what a great drive. The grip on my new Avon ZZ5s is a lot better than I remember and the tyres get almost sticky with a bit of temperature. The noise that thing makes is simply fantastic and I fell in love all over again.

Everything working beautifully - no dodgy noises, Chopin Etudes on the stereo (which are quite good for driving if you're slightly odd like me!) and the heater doing its stuff sufficiently. Fantastic chassis so I can't wait to see what the new upgraded S5 one is like (although to me it begins to sound like it's been simplified and dumbed down a bit - quite likely better grip, but will it have the same feel - we'll see...)

Really, truly couldn't imagine a better drive in anything.

Oh - and once up to proper temperatures (35 miles or so), I did a proper getaway with a little wheelspin and through to 6000 rpm in the first 3 gears with a little over 100mph on the clock in what seemed like no more than 10 seconds - splendid. Clearly I must have dreamed that bit because it would be impossible on a real road in this day and age, but the dream was so realistic I could have sworn it was real.

Fantastic, wonderful, a real heart-lifting drive.

Funny things, Morgans...

Oh, and my son was speechless and more than a bit impressed (although I won't 'dream' of doing that again for a good while!!)

Was just about to post up a similar thread

I've been out in the S1 today and though not as fast as your S3 it never fails to impress me as to how lively it is.

By no means the fastest car in the stable but they way it delivers is very special.

Great cars

among my "fun" cars i to prefer my GTN now...even forgot i have a Ferrari grin2

indeed, inside the lively feel is amazing , outside the looks...it really invites you to play with... and the common road becomes a "track"... great car !

( i'm still on winter tyres ...but they do it very good ! )

A short but wonderful run out in my Plus 8 this evening into the gathering gloom.

There is nothing quite like the way this car delivers noise, power, smoothness and refinement... It is a better ride than our Mercedes E350 AMG Coppe over broken road surfaces.

Driving back at a comfortable 55mph with the Stones blasting out..accompanying the exhaust..it doesn't get much better.
The Mog sound system is capable, if most of the bits are upgraded. Alpine DAB head unit, replacd the rear speakers with better Pioneer ones together made a big dfference.

Tarka has "nearly new" ZZ3 on Aeromax wheels, I'd be interested to know the effective difference between the ZZ3 and ZZ5, the 3s grip very well on a warm road. And I quite like the symetrical almost retro ZZ3 tread pattern.

I am lucky to live near Malvern and to be able to drive my S4 Aero over the Malvern Hills and on to Eastnor on some great roads almost everytime the sunshines which will include today drive
I have owned many great cars over the years but not one of them has put the same smile on my face as my S4, these cars just have a special something that makes you want to drive them over and over again happy3

I couldn't agree more Michael/wiscos. My wife and I have just returned home from a 100mile bimble around the highways and byways of Suffolk in our series 3, including a few very fast blasts....all within the limits you understand! Fantastic cars, that V8 rumble never fails to put a smile on my face.
John.

Peter,

had ZZ3s on my car for 6 years or so, and switched to ZZ5s last May. ZZ5s nice and quiet, tread doesn't look as nice as ZZ3s but I'd say the grip is definitely better and I can chuck the car round more without losing the rear end. And traction seems better too.

Wet grip was always really good in both and the tyres still seem to cut through to the road much better than I'd ever expect and much better than my BMW 5 series.
