Great idea. I have a lot of very tiny but powerful 'rare earth' magnets - will look to see if these can be used, with 'like' poles facing to repel each other...

That would certainly be neater. If it dosen't work & you want to try the spring method, the spring is a standard part at work. Let me know & I will drop a couple in the post.

Many thanks for the offer Ian!

The magnets are so small you wouldn't believe, I bought a pack of 20 of eBay for mucking about with, these are flat discs, but they also make small 'rod' ones, so something may well work out.

My dashboard is leather so I made a door to fit the hole and covered it in matching black leather and used a bonnet knob as the pull. Wish I could post you a photo. meabh.

I have the pop open type and got a 'Driving Glove' Tab jammed in it while messing about in the garage last week.

No way to open it. banghead It was jammed solid save just being able to get pointed Nose pliers onto the minuscule piece of tab showing and was able to pull it open. Phew, Glove Box, that was a close one. idea

Hi,
my 4/4 Sport (build in 2009) also has the open glove box tilting to the wrong side.
Looks like the factory fits new cars now with a mesh net covering the lower section of the glove box.
Also Melvyn Rutter supplies a leather drape matching the leather of your elasticated door pockets.

Wonder if I could get one to retrofit to RTA?
(edit: err, not the Liquorice Allsorts, but a mini cargo net... laugh2)

Cheers,

I mounted a piece of wood in the glove box with a spring which bears on the back of the latch. Push the release button & the spring pops the door open about 10mm. See http://www.shirevillageinns.co.uk/mog/latch.jpg

I did a similar thing, but as the lock was broken, i used a magnet to hold the door shut.
