Their (May, Hammond, Clarkson) contracts are up at the end of the month. Any sacking etc becomes moot in under 2 weeks.
I can't help feeling there is more to this story.

I'm kinda with Stewart Lee on his opinion of Top Gear. Various clips on YouTube if you haven't seen them. Make cause offence to some fans ... No offence, but surprise that Stewart Lee can earn a living as a comedian. On this evidence - which is all I ever want to see - what a nasty, talentless waste of space he is. I was expecting an English Frankie Boyle, but Lee has none of Boyle's danger, intelligence or audience engagement. I like Boyle too. Lee's comedy is very cerebral and he's definitely a comedian's comedian (I've dipped in and out of stand-up myself). He's been around for a long time but as I said, not for everyone!
Looking for another Morgan!

Well, latest news. Jeremy Clarkson has been sacked! I guess realistically the only option available to the BBC when it has been shown that he did indeed punch the producer in the face. James May says that he and Hammond won't work without JC so are not renewing their contracts. That's probably the end of their careers as its only Top Gear that has brought them to prominence...JC will probably bounce back somewhere else!

What a stupid, pathetic end to a great series.

By their statements one can assume that they condone JC's behaviour. A physical attack is instant dismissal in ordinary job situations.

American Top Gear could use their expertise, ratings, and we love a good news story involving fisticuffs.

I think that Hammond and May need to think very carefully because they both do other things for the BBC, and are more watchable in a more serious role. There is some talk about transmitting the remaining episodes of this series and the BBC are looking at how this might be achieved, without Clarkson. However much you dislike somebody, throwing a punch is never likely to end well, and lets face it, TG has become stale and sometimes unwatchable in recent series.

I still think it is a great shame that it had to get this far. Yes, it was wrong for Clarkson to offer violence but couldn't they have just "gone out the back" sorted it, ate their Snickers and carried on. The world is a more dismal place whenever the PC crowd get their way and we loose a good, fun program. The producer involved also failed to do the job he was paid to do but the only mention of him by the DG was that he will be protected !!!!!!!
Words fail me !

Sorry Reg, I don't agree. In this day and age you just cannot be allowed to hit someone in the face in a work place and be allowed to get away with it. It is a sad end to Top Gear and Clarkson should be ashamed of himself for bringing the programme down.
