Of course Clarkson may have decided not to renew his contract and wanted out....he's a very intelligent guy and of course this both raises his profile and increases the desire for other companies to bid for him. It does seems rather a coincidence that all this happened a couple of weeks before the end of his contract!
After the press reported May saying that they were a team and therefore inferring that both he and Hammond would leave as well, his agent seems to have said something different! Without Top Gear and their laddish image, they really don't have a huge amount to offer and I suspect their careers will fade.

This is another nail in the beeb coffin for me this was one of the very few BBC programs I watch these days the only other being Dr Who.
I only watched TG because of the trio of big kids that are Clarkson May and Hammond.
End of an era.

So I ask again: Who cares if the victim was incompetent? No amount of incompetence makes it fine to abuse and assault someone, so bringing up the producer's competence is, in fact, trying to shift the blame. Why else bring it up?
Please don't put words into my mouth. Once again - I didn't say it was fine to assault anyone and I'm not trying to shift the blame. I didn't put words into your mouth. You were the one bringing up the alleged incompetence of the producer - after someone else posted about the same, as if it mattered. If it does matter, then you're saying that incompetence somehow makes the assault "less" of an assault, and if it doesn't matter, then why bring it up? I was merely wondering how the BBC will now address the issue of the producer if indeed he was incompetent.
I think it will be rather difficult. Not really. If he is incompetent, he's not able to do his job competently, and therefore should not have had the job in the first place. However, that is a completely different issue than being assaulted by someone and has no bearing on whether or not Clarkson should have been fired for the assault, or wether or not it was an assault in the first place. Again, why bring his competency into it?

Yup, end of an era indeed. I hope they can make another great hit for export, and I have no doubt they will at some point in time. I doubt it will be a topgear clone, though.

Doesn't seem to be a "reliable witness" to me. Appears to be playing it up hugely for his five minutes of fame.
