I'm new to the Morgan world and will have a few questions until I feel comfortable with my car. It's a 1970 4/4. My immediate question is about the turn signal lever/assembly. The stalk will not return to off after making a turn. The signals work so that is good. Is there a common fix for this problem or do I have to get a new switch. If I have to get a new switch is it a common part to MG's, Healeys, and other British cars? Thanks, Mark

Mark it may be that the concentric cam on the steering wheel shaft has slip or maybe work, alternatively the plastic on the switch that flicks the indicator stalk may have worn away in which case it would be a replacement switch. worth taking of the steering wheel and cowling over the stalks and investigating first. If your up to that. Welcome to TM

No problem with taking a look. I've done complete restorations on other British cars so this shouldn't be a challenge. It appears as if there are few if any repair manuals for these cars so I guess that I will have to wing it or hope that this forum can provide the answers.

They all do that with age sir. I just ignored it but you can buy new stalks. Someone on here will surely know the type or call Melvyn Rutter's spares dept

After looking at the switch, it appears as if there is a cam of some sort that is missing. It looks as if this triggers the lever to return. Is Melvyn the only place to go?

Hi Marcus - I got one for my previous +8 from Heart of England as in the link below. http://www.heartofenglandmorgans.co.uk/cgi-bin/viewPage.cgi?linkId=268&languageId=1Just found a cheaper one on ebay looks like the right one to me - I remember seeing these on Triumph 2.5 Injection models an it's £60.00 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Steering-Column-Stalk-Indicator-Horn-Lights-Flash-Main-Dip-Beam-/171673107493?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ATriumph&hash=item27f883bc25

The switch is a Lucas 30390 Switch 119a. They are obsolete now and sometimes turn up as NOS, (New Old Stock). The cheapest place I can see one is PureFord.co.uk for £79.99. It apparently fits an old Ford Transit!
HoEs is a new one, so might last longer.
If I see them at auto jumbles, I buy them if they are less than £50.00. A friend's car had my last spare.
(Auto cancelling is over rated anyway - just turn them off!)

Could I fit a buzzer to my switch, the dash lights are invisible in daylight. Mine came with one already fitted Bob and the one below will do the job for you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-INDICATOR-WARNING-BUZZER-A-MUST-HAVE-/250880674073
