Peter is your secret mission to convert all us Trad drivers to your new fangled horseless carriage? Not exactly... I just feel that the Plus 8 is a better GT Mog than the Roadster. The 4/4 and +4 are Morgan Sports cars, pure and simple. Whilst the original Roadsters were an acceptable substitute for the Rover Engined Plus 8 I feel the later Cyclone engined Roadsters have too much power for the chassis and the motor and box are not well matched to the car. The BMW Engined Plus 8 rides, corners and stops as well as most modern cars, it has more interior space and the creature comforts to make a 250 mile stint an untiring pleasure, making 500 miles in a day easy. Yet it manages, from my perspective, to carry through all the essential positive and some negative "Morgan characteristics" from the smaller Trads. Yes, they are expensive. But if you have a Roadster but are not happy with the ride comfort, space and refinement then I'd say "give the Plus 8 a go": you may be pleasantly surptised. Final heretical statement: seriously consider the automatic. It adds to the overall level of refinement and in normal mode it is capable of 30 to 32mpg on a long cross country run. In sport mode it isn't, but it is a lot more fun!

See what I mean?  The Roadster is a lot of fun - but I really did fancy something a bit different and yet still a Morgan. I was also tempted by the thought of a normally aspirated V8 as I don't think these engines will be around forever.

 Peter, I'm afraid I have to disagree with you this time, your talking tosh, the trad chassis has been used with more power and is able to handle it. The engine and gearbox are very good and personally find the power band and gear matching very good. You can also cruise very nicely in it, if you wish. It may not be as forgiving as a new Plus 8 but then that's part of the fun of it.

I pick up my brand new Plus 8 on Good Friday from Bell & Colvill - and will, of course, post some photos when available. Someone will pick up a bargain on my Roadster as it's so fully specified. Many thanks to Peter J for all his encouragement to enter the world of performance Morgans.  Neilda - congrats! Look forward to seeing your new Plus 8! Did you get it in similar spec to your Roadster? I feel like your Roadster is near ideal spec were I to do one myself. Look forward to hearing your drive impressions as well!

Congratulations Neil and welcome to the world of the Aero platform!  I'm afraid that having owned a 3.7L Roadster I don't agree with Peter's views that the motor and box are "not well matched to the car". Nevertheless I do love the Aero chassis and the current Plus 8, which I believe will not be produced for very much longer; with the advent of the new Aero 8.  Do you know which chassis/suspension combination your car has, the same as Peter's or the new Aero 8 one? Obviously there will only be on SKU going forward, but I don't know the cut-off date? Whichever you have enjoy your new car.

Congrats Neilda, I love the Plus 8 and the grin will continue. If I could I would have both, and if my piggy bank stretch that far I would probably do the same. But I'd miss the Roadster.

Congrats Neilda for the new purchase. It will be a happy Easter for you! If Peter went to work on the Spaniel showroom after he retired every car sold would be a plus 8!
