HATE THE GAME was only a young man in my 20s took a girl for a walk in a nice field near a beach in the summer lay in the grass ended up in some sand hole . When I hear several voices I looked up 2 or 3 blokes not a stones throw away trying to hit a hole with there balls . I was doing the same thing and about to get a hole in one when , I had to get up and run put me right of my stroke . you try and run like this . playing [quote=BobtheTrain]Nothing can beat a good game of golf.

You need to watch out for the sand! I wonder if attitudes to golf is the same all over the world? There's a golf course in my village with a couple of public footpaths over it that go past the clubhouse. They are generally very snotty about people using the paths. As a contrast, when I was over in Australia last year, we walked regularly over my nephews local course at Mona Vale and the ladies playing there stopped their games to chat to us! So different....I could almost have joined them!

I remember it well this woman refused to break her grip on me she was going for the big O . I had just had mine OH ! hell blokes coming I'am off, still she refused to let go . I knew I was good but never knew I was great till then . Broke free and was off like a rabbit. A good while later met and knew she was the one I wanted to marry there was just something different about her quiet disciplined ways she set about changing me . Dad pulled me to one side "I want a word with you son " gave me the bible thumping 10 commandments ( HIS ) . I thought I was going out with his daughter . Even on the big day he could not wait to send me off to church dont know why there was never a dull moment in the house . I changed from a Terry Collier to a Bob Ferris ( The Likely Lads ) But now and then the Terry still pops out only to say hello . The golfclub I am a member of is great. Snobs are " tolerated", the vast majority of members being great. We have public paths across the course and there are no issues. Except for a couple of years ago when a family decided to set up chairs on a green for a picnic! As golfers we have to take care for safety of people but some people walking the paths have no idea....they see us waiting to hit balls and make no effort to move, even stopping for a chat. A shout requesting a move usually works. Common courtesy needed by some. There are actually more issues with members playing too slow..... In my experience clubs have varying attitudes by members. MSCC is no exception. I find Taffmog great. Very welcoming to us as new members and no snobbishness. The opposite in fact....we look forward to the noggins which get noisy with fun. The club area is large with 3 noggins to cater for distance so we tend to go to our "local" one. However, meeting people from the others is great. Very friendly. MSCC to me is still worth membership, but I believe it needs updating to improve interest/member participation etc. it needs "modernisation" re electronic magazine as an option, technical articles with positive links to Gomog/morganatica/Talkmorgan even!!!! Mogtalk definitely needs updating to TM style access for members. TM is my first pirt of call before any others...well done TM. Bloody hell! That post sounds serious in tone...... Off to drive to have fun......

So different....I could almost have joined them! That golf club in your village Jay is a very famous one, I played there with the trade association I worked at, our presidents cup and over 150 corporate players booked in that day. Including a dinner afterwards. The event was organised by the regional directors secretary, a very respected lady in the association. When we arrived and the member garages golfers started to arrive all hell broke loose, they told the organising lady that she could not enter the clubhouse as women were barred....it was raining and they suggested to get a chair and sit in the car park handing out start cards..... After about 50 players and staff were up in arms a snap vote unanimously agreed to cancel the day and set of for the municipal course at the Licky's.....your local golf course even sent us an invoice and we returned it suggesting they forward it to our legal department as they were handling complains and claims for compensation from our member garages......we heard nothing more. famous and good course but with a very antiquated attitude. Not played since the limping got worse, never any good anyway ;-).
