Has anyone a definitive guide to changing the oil on early models
I know this seems like a no brainer but is it a case of sump plug and both oil lines removed???
Also any thoughts on interval as 2500 seems very conservative to me.

You need to change the oil filter too.
Harley 20w50 fully synthetic
I change my oil at 2500-3000 miles as the temp is so high. I mainly do it by oil colour as when it goes very black it seems sensible to change as the tappet feeder pipes become gungy.
I got my oil tank upgraded to one with the tap. It may be worthwhile for you too as the pipe's oil seal is never as good again on the early ones. I used to get constant slow drip leaks so I suggest using white spirit to properly clean the metal pipe contacts and end of the pipe to get a good seal.

I had heard some issues regards oild pipes hence my question
Yes oil filter is already bought. My oil looks good as new at 2500 but I do have the cooling kit.
I am going to the bell at Aldworth at 1200 today. Fantastic ancient pub and the regulars love unusual vehicles. We can do a run afterwards.

I just use a vacuum pump to get the oil out of the tank. Then change the filter and drain what little comes out of the sump plug.
With maximum of about 3000 miles between changes the old oil has only ever been clean and fresh looking.

3000 miles is nice but I don't obsess over it. The bikers I've talked with have opined that with the Morgan setup having 50% more oil than any motorcycle out there will considerably increase the mileage you get out of the oil before it breaks down. We are running 6 quarts versus the 4 usually supplied. For synthetics the recommendation is to change it at 3,500 to 5,000 mile intervals with a stock bike running 4 quarts. I think we have a considerable amount of leeway with the M3W.
At one point due to scheduling and lack of time I ran mine up to 4500 miles before a change and it was only mildly darker than the usual. The usual looking like I just put it in.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Couldn't agree more! Maybe if regularly sitting in traffic in hot weather and cooking the oil that way then the official intervals are about right otherwise I think they are overkill.

I agree with Red. I use a vacuum (Mytivac) pump. Pump it up and walk away, come back and its drained. Will probably do the EZ valve next winter.
