All I would do with that is a lick of aluminium paint. Nothing more. Lacquer won't stay on very well, it's a hostile environment, assuming the oil gets hot...........

Grass in the middle of the road will polish it up for you.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you all to respond to your comments, but as Budster said I popped over to him for a chat a round trip of 38 miles I managed to avoid any puddles to avoid getting the car dirty. The delay was I had to check it still had a clean bottom rofl

I am not going crazy2, just a bit of a clean up as I have done nearly 2K miles through the winter drive (more that I suspect some of you do in a summer) hide on the holy grail trail of the ECU upgrade by the way it is performing very well. MPG as measured today is a reasonable 28mpg, after 134 miles some of which had some serious blasts of acceleration. The mpg readout is currently showing 31mpg. So the drive to Budster and back was a bit of a bumble.

When I cleaned under the arches and the wheels the other week I greased up the pins, and turned the AVO's up one notch on the front to 5 clicks, what a difference a click makes, I think the pins needed a good grease as it was 800 miles since the last one.

Anyway back to the engine bottom, were's DaveW I am sure he can give me some sensible advice even if you lot can't. grin2

Nothing wrong with some post winter TLC.
I experimented on my exhaust yesterday.....
Pepsi and a scotchpad.
Worked well on the stainless.
Didn't use it on the polished tailpipes though.
Also tried it on the cast exhaust manifold. Worked well there too..
Will revisit manifold again when I have more time.
May even polish the exhaust...........

Indeed... the car in question did go to North Cape. Some really rough surfaced roads there.

I have the photos from the trip and surprisingly the roads don't look too bad, although I think one of the cars suffered a broken light from a thrown stone.
