My one is early enough to not have the drain port for the valve on the oil tank so far easier to just use the pump and not add an extra failure point in to the oil system! Hope those who have fitted the valve use a blanking plug, I don't have a lot of faith in single valve isolations especially when there is lots of vibration about.

Way too low. The bottom of the engine block is simply not high enough off the ground for something like this. As seen, this would add almost an inch to the actual depth of the block. It's already too freaking low! This is a great fix for a vehicle with the clearance but on our little toys I just envision a disaster waiting to happen!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

It sounds as if you have had a bad personal experience with these valves Callum? Not these specific valves Paul, just valves in general. If it isn't absolutely securely closed then should it open while the engine is running then it will drain the tank fairly quickly which isn't a very appealing prospect in several ways. I also have seen a lot of rather more expensive small valves that after a while are not as good at keeping things in as they are supposed to be. I have a vacuum oil extractor, it is very easy to remove the oil from the tank with it without disturbing the hoses so the drain valve to me is a solution looking for a problem rather than the other way round.

I failed to mention that I had a devil of a time getting the hoses tight to my satisfaction the first time I changed oil. I thought I had them really cranked tight but I could still twist them, That alone made me think that I'll not remove the hoses again, If a hose came off can't you imagine-----

My first oil change was through the hoses & i didnt like the process as with time the clamps might damage the hoses.plus you are correct the hose does twist,just check on it from time to time but dont over tighten the clamp as it might snap or cut/ damage the hose...
Thats why i installed the ez drain valve.
