The poll now stands at 64% renewal and 36% not renewing, with a number "giving it one more year" Good thread started by Adrian. My own subscription becomes due in July and I am, as yet, undecided but I remain unhappy about certain issues with the club. So the jury is out.

The club which became MSCC was formed by a group of owners who were into competative events, and I believe that it remained so for many years.
I joined in 2003 for the same reasons as Graham (except for the marshalling bit!). I also wanted to find out as much as possible about the cars and about the club. In the end I had a long wait of five years before buying my first Morgan.
What struck me right from the start was the few technical articles, and the large number of holiday trips and dining out events. What also struck me as odd, was the number of adverts for used Morgans in a magazine where most of the readers would have a Morgan already. And to be honest, the coverage of racing etc which I really don't have much interest in, but is what the club started out as being all about.
One or two staunch and active old members (which I got to know) have left in recent years because they felt that MSCC had become a dining club rather than a competition based club, and this shift reflects the modern buyer who is often retired, and has little interest in DIY maintenance or competition. A consequence (probably) of Morgan going upmarket.
We attended a Yorkshire Centre mid week lunctime gathering last year, and it was well attended and an enjoyable trip out, although we wouldn't do it too often because we prefer the open road early in the mornings! The Yorkshire Centre subs are £5 p.a., and I'm quite happy to part with that, to be kept in touch with what's going on locally.
I agree entirely. Virtually a complete lack of technical articles or historical articles and what seems to be a dining club mentality. The magazine can be skimmed through in a few minutes. If it is the case as others have commented that the Editorial team has not published / ignored technical articles submitted its shocking. I see no benefit in being a member unless you have no interest in the way a vehicle works and like to visit tea rooms. Also there seems to be a huge amount of surplus cash in the club coffers. Other car clubs I belong to would be using this to re-manufacture obsolete parts or other worthy uses of the members subscriptions.

I just don't expect too much from membership to be honest. For my £39 (seems it should have been £40) I get a so/so magazine and access to local club activity if I want it. I elect not to get involved, my choice, mainly as the events look to be endless lunches or 'noggins' ?..! Not really what I bought a Morgan for, magazine content is fairly dull but then I am not a fan of Mog Mag either, but both publications do have their limited usage, event information (not 'noggins'), factory news and items for sale...but my point is it's ok, nothing fantastic, useful knowledge but it's only £40 not sure what all the fuss is about.

I've found that I just skim through the miscellany, there's seldom much that read from start to finish and I haven't been to an event for ages, too busy with work, no time.
I have to admit though, I do read the posts on here, although I don't have a lot to say. Perhaps I'm just a voyeur!!! I'm not currently a Morgan owner. I've owned 7 Morgans over the years, but for the last 3 or 4 years I've been without, (work, work, work). I will be a Morgan owner again but or the time being I've just got another 911.
I've kept my MSCC membership up over the years, but having just got my renewal form I won't bother renewing.
