Good evening all, Can anyone tell me the size of the wire mesh fitted to the trades radiator grills please. I am about to order some from http://www.lockwoodinternational.co.uk but forgot to measure the grill. I know this isn't normally a problem but the Mog is back in Germany and I am in Southampton.  Many thanks and has anyone used this firm before? Cheers Gaz

I would order the mesh grille from a Morgan dealer or Heart of England Motors

Hi Inde, just measured mine for you, average 7.5 mm between wires - they vary from 7-8 !!
Height is 355mm, width is 322-329 mm, again varies.

I agree with Stewart. You will need to put a convex shape into the mesh to fit behind the grill and this will cause problems with the cut edges more than likely coming apart. The made up mesh grilles are welded and have a perimeter wire around them to hold the shape and cut down the chance of paintwork damage from raw edges.

Mine, from HoE, don't have a perimeter wire but, if I recall, the do have mounting plate at the top which matches the mounting points on the inside of the grill.

Mine's as Peter's, no perimeter wire but mounting plates at top. Not easy to make with the double curvature so not that expensive at £100 or so IMHO.

Hi Gaz
If you can weld buy the wire mesh.
Check out Mesh company the size of the mesh will change as it is formed to the Morgan grill, you will probably find it is a nominal 6.5mm.
If you are not a welder the mesh will unweave on the edges as you cut the corners , You will also have to allow for diagonal sizing not 90* mesh size.
Also where gloves the cut edges are very sharp.
