In store Tesco have Castrol GTX 10W/40 at £6 for 2 litres.

It is a semi synthetic with no fancy additive package and few 1980's and 1990's cars need that

Not the first choice for cars after say 2000

Good deal if you are not an oil snob.

Do we have any idea what the ZDDP content is? That is critical for flat tappet engines like the Rover V8.

Looking at the Castrol site, they don't say, but I think it is not a suitable oil for anything older. The Rover V8 is really a 60s Buick engine, probably designed in the late 50s and modified over the years.

So that is probably a no!

Mobil 1 Racing used to have decent ZDDP levels when I last looked into it. As a rule, ZDDP poisons catalytic converters hence the low levels in most modern oils.
