Is a 10 second quarter possible what about the GT3 cars?

http://www.caranddriver.com/buying_guide...ecar_auto_shows

"Car and Driver In 2003 we drove an American-spec Aero 8 and found it to be a rocket, finishing the quarter-mile in 12.7 seconds at 110 mph. Morgan doesn’t think that’s fast enough and for 2008 has replaced the 320-hp, 4.4-liter BMW V-8 powering the old car with BMW’s 4.8-liter producing 362 horsepower"

Not without some serious modification. I've tried and the problem is getting the power down.

Saying that I'd be interested in seeing what the auto will do.

That's about in line with TVR Cerbs at the Pod.

Again.. 1st with that amount of torque is pretty useless....

Some launch in 2nd.. depends how much you love your clutch

Just looked at a couple of Chim's running NOS and getting 12.6's and low 13's.

So not bad for a stock Aero then.

You may find this interesting, even though it's MG related. eek
A few years ago on the MGOC BBS appeared a 'barmpot' who intended to use an MGBGTV8 on the strip. eek eek
He's a heating engineer and is handy with nitro kits.
His car is featured here:
http://www.britishv8.org/MG/PerryStephenson.htm

I'll let Perry take up the facts & figures........

"Back in the dim and distant past she had the detuned factory low comp V8, which I detuned a bit more with comp head gaskets. She ran a best of the 1/4 of 13.9 at around 102mph.
This was with a 100hp shot of gas. I upped it to 150hp but the overdrive started to slip. That was when I went with the 3 speed auto. (The standard clutch from Mr Clutch held up fine as well)......

The new engine is again detuned a tad, but with comp head gaskets and 'increased' ring gaps. She does blow by somewhat, but I can cope with that side effect as it gives me a good safety margin re melting rings into the top lands.

Her best time on this new engine and autobox is 11.56 seconds @ 117.81 mph scared ....This is with a 150hp of nitrous.
It won't better this time as it ran out of revs, which is why she now has new 26 1/2" diameter slicks fitted. My calcs show these should give me 17% more mph at 5000rpm. So the 10 should be in the bag this year. She has been running 200hp shots for trial runs and she seems to be coping.
But for the first days out this year she will be going back to 80hp of gas as a starting point. My new system should be here on saturday. This will basically give me two systems (one per bank) running from one controller which means I will be able to flow up to 400hp of gas if needed. Recent dyno figures for the new engine are 320bhp with 383ft/lbs of torque at 4000rpm with a 100hp shot of gas.

Both of the above engines are still running original cranks and rods. And stock Rover pistons.
The only internal mods are cam shaft, steel timing gears and bleed down lifters.
A lot of folk think I'm kidding, until they see the B run".

SO - watch out for Perry at the Pod, and if and +8 owners want advice on nitro'ing Rover engines, he's had plenty of experience. laugh2

I'm all for more power, but nitrous is the equivalent of steroids in athletics... i 've watched a fantastic skoda favorite whip a lamborghini diablo sv to 100 from a rolling 30mph start all because of nitrous.
I suppose that was hillarious, but I guess I just think the owners are nuts....

As for the aero that's an impressive time, I wonder what tyres they were using...

Don't you have to be invited to that kind of event?
Still looks like there will be a day at santa pod soon so that might settle it.
I like my transmission too much for full bore standing starts though!
(Which is why vmax events are fun as you get a rolling start...)
