Could anyone please give me some tips on how to mount this badge i.e. How to access rear to fit/tighten bolts. Any other special considerations. I would appreciate your help.

I take it that you don't have a spare wheel, then? If it were me, I think I'd probably take the easy way out. Cut the mounting studs off with a Dremel, file the back of the badge flat, and bond it on with Sikaflex or similar like they do with modern car badges.

Actually Tim I do have a spare wheel. It's that simple then. Remove the wheel and instant access? I'm feeling a bit thick now! Thanks for replying Tim.

As long as you don't have a 4 seater...there are vertical wooden members just where you want the badge, I missed by a nuts width when I had a 4 seater in 08....lucky or what! Take Tim's advice, super smart way to fit the badge....you could also use number plate mounting pads cut into strips behind the letters of the script.

Yep, if it's a two-seater then there's no problem with access, with the spare wheel out of the way you can easily reach the back of the panel to do the nuts up.

If there are no existing holes and you want to drill the panel rather than sticking the thing on, then apply strips of masking tape to the paintwork first. Then you can mark the hole positions and check you've got the angle and positioning correctly, and then when you do drill the tape will prevent the drill bit from skittering all over your lovely paintwork.

Be wary about using centre punch unless you have the rear of the panel well supported with an additional lump of wood, you don't want to risk denting the panel.

Thanks Tim. It looks like I'm all set to go. Spare wheel, two seater, masking tape. What could possibly go wrong! (apart from mounting at the wrong angle of course!)

Double sided stick tape as used to put body trim on "modern" cars
You can buy it on a roll in a decent car spares shop. Normally black and has Green PVC plastic to pull off the adhesive side.
( Its better than bodging holes in the body)
My GB plate & Morgan script is fitted this way

John, I have a roll of strong automotive tape that I can send you a length, if you want.
Send me a personal message with you name and address and I will put a couple of strips in the post to you.

I used the tape to stick enamel flags onto my bonnet.

If you do decide to go the stick-on route....most sensible in my opinion...do take great care cutting the mounting pegs off the back of the badge. The badge is very fragile as I found and easily snaps.

I mounted it face down on a piece of board using double sided tape to hold it in position whilst I trimmed off the pegs and ground them flat. A thin strong cord, like dental floss is handy then for getting the badge off the board.

Have a look at the two images in this post: http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/galleries/91757/1

It might help you decide on how to position the badge.
