My daughter and son in law are touring France from 30th May. Brittany first then the Loire Valley and finishing off in Champagne. Yes it's a wine trip.
But now they are without a car, because their Mk1 Golf cabriolet is completely dismantled, and their R32 is presently indisposed as reported earlier.
So I'm lending them my Golf GTD for the trip. Does this make me a candidate for the F-I-L of the year award, or would any father do the same for their family?

I'm just wondering, that's all. thinking

You are not alone Dave, last month I added my daughter to my Car, so that she can put the mileage on my diesel Golf rather than her MX5 as she will be up and down to Lancaster. To be honest I would rather she was in a normal height car rather than the low down sports car especially in heavy traffic.
It is what us Dads do!

Weirdly, my daughter who lives in London asked if she could put me as a named driver on her car as it brings down the cost....they average out the ages apparently..........

At last a sensible answer! grin2

And another thing - (Warning - thread drift) My Golf is all nicely polished - I had it out yesterday for a pair of front tyres ready for the trip.
Tonight when I got in, the Shitehawks have landed three direct hits. Luckily two were on glass, but there was a big one on the bonnet. It hadn't even gone hard, but had etched the lacquer quite deep.
It took a bit of effort to get rid of most of the damage. It's still just visible as what looks like sub surface pitting, but remember I'm a perfectionist, so from a couple of inches away you can't see it. Nonetheless I've issued some bird shite removal instructions in advance of the trip. Bound to be some French Shitehaws in play.

True.

When we bought our elder daughter a Mini convertible for her 21st, putting the aged parents on her insurance as named drivers knocked 30% off the premium.
