You should try filling a Supersport - not only does it suffer the same short neck problem but the rear wing means you have to hold it at an awkward angle - usually with the other hand underneath. First time you go to service it, tell the guys to check if the pipe no. 12 is not full of gasoline. http://www.aero-racing.co.uk/partsbooks/supersports/fuel%20system.htm

This may be a longshot Neil but I had very slow filling on my 44. I noticed that inside the filler, once the cap is removed, is a perforated alluminium ring. I think this is connected to a small flap that closes behing the hole. I noticed mine was at a 9 oclock position. I simply rotated the ring using a small spike, it moves easily, till the flap was hinged at the top, 12 oclock. My filling problem was instantly solved. It sounds weird but have a look, if the filler on a plus 8 is the same, you will easily see what I mean. Nick Nik - that was it! Brilliant.... thank you. It's not perfect, but I can now squeeze half a trigger in combination with the Jenks patented 12 o'clock manoeuvre. It's a super fast fill compared to the previous 5% squeeze. Much, much better.

I checked.
It had moved...the flap piviot was at 7 O'clock. Interestingly the car had become increasingly difficult to fill, blowing back a bit of fuel as it became full.
Slid it back to 12 O'Clock. It is very easy to turn, finger pressure is enough. It will be interesting to see if it is easier to fill. If it is then a spot of Epoxy may be indicated.
Could this be the root cause of all the filling problems reported? It certainly explains why dome cars are easy to fill, some are not and some change...

Mine was at 9 o'clock so moved it to the recommended position. Had a close look at the flap though and it doesn't seem to obscure the fill in any position and the pump nozzle should clear the flap completely when inserted. So not sure what affect it will have but time will tell!

I didn't look closely, but perhaps the vent holes are cleared at 12 o'clock? Whatever, it most definitely makes a difference on mine.
