This may be a longshot Neil but I had very slow filling on my 44. I noticed that inside the filler, once the cap is removed, is a perforated alluminium ring. I think this is connected to a small flap that closes behing the hole. I noticed mine was at a 9 oclock position. I simply rotated the ring using a small spike, it moves easily, till the flap was hinged at the top, 12 oclock. My filling problem was instantly solved. It sounds weird but have a look, if the filler on a plus 8 is the same, you will easily see what I mean. Nick No Aero but a 4/4. Your tip is priceless, Nick. Thanks a lot! So easy to fix even with the fingers, and resulting in a really transformed filling experience. My flap was at 5 ó clock.

Use the 3 o'clock method described on here previously ( I'm talking fuel pump nozzles here ! ) and get on much better. Was always very difficult filling the 7 but that was probably the right angle pipe just before the cap causing it.

Madmax, I'm not sure but it is possible that I also talked on TM happily about the 3 o'clock method concerning the nozzles. Since yesterday it is history. When turning the flap with the alloy ring to 12o'clock as Nick describes, you can even fill the Mog for the first time without touching the nozzle.

M Me too - the other evening. And at full squeeze on the trigger! I was going to post about it, but felt it might have been a bit sad.

Nick. I've looked on my 4/4 and can't see any obvious adjustment, as you describe. What type of filler cap do you have? Thanks

Hi Bud, it only applies to the latest type of filler, my 2005 car had a different cap where you unlocked the outer and that was it. The latest caps the outer just unclips and the key fits an inner removable part, behind which is this ring. Mind you, on the older one, when I had slow filling, I found that the little gold coloured flap that was spring loaded behind the hole was also sticking. I used wd40 on that and that helped alot too.
