If your garage is high enough, why not a car lift. I took this solution to store a third car in my garage. My Morgan is over an other car on a 4 post car lift.

Never rely on reference books for accuracy particularly for dimensions. a Plus Eight chassis is 2 inches longer than a 4/4 or early +4s until all models adopted the Plus Eight chassis. The overall dimensions quoted in reference books are affected by the type of bumpers fitted, whether they are fitted or not as they were optional extras in the 1960s and 1970s and whether overriders (early Morris Minor or the current style are fitted. Reference books often merely quoted figures quoted by the factory and these could not be relied upon.

It's a handbuilt car and blacksmiths' tolerances prevail!

The lift is a possibility but I am now looking at a side-by-side solution which is achievable. That way I should be able to use one without moving the other. The 'other' by the way is a 1967 Volvo 123GT in original condition - I know you will not mind me keeping that.

I believe the width of the said +4 is 1,422mm, with recent models being 1,720mm. Any comments?

It all depends. Back to the factory's blacksmith tolerances. Wings were hung in place then trimmed to fit; probably still are. Rebuilt cars, and the wings are often replaced, will differ again sometimes depending on changes in wheel width or aesthetics.
Consider it this way, the door throw of of Morgan is less than virtually any other car and egress with the hood down is easier than climbing out of a sunroof or squeezing through a window if it's not possible to open the door sufficiently.
