Having just seen the options list for the new Aero 8 £3k for paddle shifts for the auto option seems a tad steep , but you do get an airbag for that!

My quick extras wish list came to £13k

Has the base price been published yet? I couldn't find it on the MMC website

To be fair you also need to try and configure a Bentley or a Porsche and see what you end up with in extras.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Wow, almost makes the options on my plus 4 seem, relatively, reasonable. At the end of the day though you do get a car that is absolutely what you want and it's difficult to put a price on that.

Mulliner Driving Spec on a Bentley is £8.5K and comprises: "a choice of 3 standard veneers (Burr Walnut, Dark Stained Burr Walnut, Piano Black, drilled alloy sport foot-pedals, gear lever finished in knurled chrome and hide, diamond quilted hide to seat facings, doors and rear quarter panels; embroidered Bentley emblem to seat facings, 20 inch 2-piece alloy sports wheels (GTC)" Daylight robbery... swear

The problem is if you don't spec it, it makes the car virtually impossible to sell second-hand, as the Mulliner Spec also opens up the choice of body and leather colours, otherwise you're very limited in what you can have!

The Options List makes interesting reading and must be where a big chunk of profit is on the car (any car). Contrasting stitching £495 , I can't see the cost of thread varies that much more, or the effort is any greater to stitch in one colour or another. Gloss black centre to steering wheel £295! It makes the heated seats at £595 look like a bargain.

Playing options on a new Mini Clubman took the price from £16K to £23K...

I hate to think what the options on my Plus 8 came to, it has all possible options including auto with paddle shift and air-bags, special paint and leather colours, the contrasting stitching and piping, the Morgan stitched logo on the headrests and of course Aeromax wheels.....

Options are always going to push the cost up , often a lot. It's interesting looking at what you are getting for your money. If you spec DSG on a sports model VW paddle shifts (and air bag) usually come as standard or the multifunction steering wheel is around £300 as an option. Charging £3k for paddle shift and an airbag (which ought to be std) looks very expensive for what you get.

The SS had the "full spec" interior - which in those days meant alcantara + quilted leather.

This is just Morgan doing modern pricing
