Hi Folks,

Just to let you know:
Our Baby came back on Friday evening - from its first service (after roundabout 1000 Kilometers). My dealer gave me the hint to bring it to this Service Station:

They did the full check, replaced the fly Screen on the left site (there were cracks in it), adjusted the steering (when moving the wheels to the full left side, the left wheel touched the left exhaust…), adjusted the headlights, moved the pedals one position to the rear (what an improvement! :-)).
The Service Station did a great Job. The overall noise (especially from the bevel box) seems to be reduced and it feels good to have everything checked up for the running season.
One thing made me wondering (and I´m already checking with them): They did not refit the front engine cover tightly; they used small metal washers to keep a gap between engine and engine cover – see the attached photos.
I´m wondering if they did that with intention or if they made a little mistake while reassembling…
Anyway – it´s good to have the baby back and I’ll let you know – in case you interested.

It will be intentional. The belt needs cooling with circulating air.

The washers are now the recommended fix for belt overheating and failure by S&S. All cars should be retrofitted. It runs markedly cooler with this simple fix.

Interesting - and thanks for the swift reply and information. I wasn´t aware of that and shows that my service station is up to date with the leatest news... even better!

Apart from the spacers behind the casing (which were installed on my now-departed M3W last year) I see that there is quite a large aperture at the top. When was that introduced?

This must be the new vented cover. Interesting.

Exactly...but when i used washers to vent the belt area..i noticed oil after a few days...so i returned the cover back to factory....
So whats better now? Shut or washers?

How much oil? When you take the cover off, just where is it seeping from? If it's only a few drops then no mind. Oil seeping into the cambelt area will not be returned to the engine. It has no business being there. Oil on the cambelt is a bad idea as it will attract dust and grit. Check everything.
